Very pretty fabrics!

GailG 07-17-2014 04:56 AM

Wow! What a collection. The paisley-ish piece in the first row and the butterfly in the last row make me very happy.

Tartan 07-17-2014 05:00 AM

Nice fabrics! So are you going to add one pop colour to make 30? What pattern?

gibbette 07-17-2014 05:03 AM

nice collection.

gabeway 07-17-2014 05:24 AM

Funny you should ask that. Contemplating this one, although color not true in this photo. Or go with a red and white or lime green and white or maybe just pop in a floral block for my "poison" (years ago took a rug hooking course at Greenfield Village in Dearborn MI and the artist said always must have some "poison", just a wee bit, that is "off" to the other colors.) How about that -- those are my two favorites, too!

cherylmae 07-17-2014 05:48 AM

Am making my neighbors a quilt with all black and white fat quarters and a pinch of red in between for contrast. I love B&W too.

Cybrarian 07-17-2014 07:00 AM

So many directions you can go-deciding is part of why we do this quilting thing! Love your mix, please post pics of your result!

Jeanne S 07-17-2014 11:32 AM

I love your collection! I have been shopping for them too.

Sallybear 07-17-2014 12:19 PM

Have always wanted to do a black & white quilt......& then just add that little bit of color (pop of poison! ). Want to see the completed quilt!

Barbara Kantola 07-17-2014 02:59 PM

What a nice collection! In the past, I would never have said I cared for black and white, but the more I see of it, the more it grows on me. I have seen some very striking quilts with black and white and another color to make it pop! Have fun with your stash!

Nice collection of B&W. Made a B&W with touch of red for my step-daughter couple of years ago. Been thinking of making another one, my have to move it up on my to-do list!

Sometimes the collecting is just as much fun as the piecing!

Just finished a black and white and red string quilt. Red strip down the middle and sides were opposite colors, black white black and white black white. Added a narrow border and a wide border print to the edge. My daughter quilted it for me. It is beautiful. My vote is RED.

joyce888 07-18-2014 04:37 AM

Very nice collection. Curious to see what color or fabric you add with them.

AlaskaAlice 07-18-2014 08:03 AM

Nice! I am making a hunter star (Indian Arrowhead) quilt for one of my grand boys..He wants black and white..I have had a challenge finding fabric that is not to "girly" to make his quilt.
His brother wants shades of aqua..not to fussy.. I only have 16 grand boys and it gets to be a challenge to get guy quilts made that are pleasing and fun to make and not to flowery!

sdeaaz 07-18-2014 08:11 AM

I am making a black and white Farmer's wife sampler..... with a little red. You have some great black and whites...what is your plan....???

#1piecemaker 07-18-2014 08:17 AM

I love black and whites!!! What a nice collection! I'm envious.

Love your b/w collection. I am making my 3rd b/w all are through my quilt guild. my first I added coral. the next lime green, this time I am adding gold. This years a member is designing the blocks. When this present one began everyone looked at me and said this will be great in black & White. Guess they know what I love.
When I learn how to post and get all three quilted I will post them.
I have also done a few sample DHG blocks for show and tell monday night. I am in charge of the program on monday night so have made a small quilt using the refracted quilt pattern. I buy scrubs at 2nd hand stores and used some of those for this quilt . I do enjoy trying different patterns.
thanks for listening.

When I looked at them, those are the two fabrics that caught my eye also!

Love all of them though.

sewbeadit 07-18-2014 03:33 PM

Years ago I made my daughter a black and white quilt and it took me forever to find any to use. Now look at all the goodies you have, this is great!

twinkie 07-19-2014 02:50 AM

I too have an overabundance of B & W fabrics in my stash. What pattern are you going to use?

BuzzinBumble 07-19-2014 03:07 AM

Drool, drool, drool, drool... :D

IshtarsMom 07-19-2014 10:18 AM

Caswews 07-19-2014 03:37 PM

Good question! I was going to do something like this, (I just folded material atop to get idea. Anyone know the name of this. I have looked all over internet and found nothing like it which is just too hard to believe.) http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...7-photo-1-.jpg

But.....now I am leaning towards this. Inside the article is a link to a free ebook with the pattern but the directions are confusing to me. I am almost done playing around with making into paper pieced pattern for finished 8' squares. I would not have all one background, of course. And if did do this pattern would throw in a pale yellow or turquoise square here and there. http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...7-photo-1-.jpg

But then there is this one, http://www.vanillalattequilts.com/SquareMixUpQuilt.jpg

I am limiting my options to about a list of never-ending as I have lots of cool 1.5" strips I want to use, too. I don't help my decision by googling images for terms like, "black and white quilt" or "funky black and white quilt" or "Paper-pieced squares and ribbons". But one morning I will awake, sit down, and just start one. Like someone said upstream there is fun in the deciding!
