I have the January blocks all pieced! Obviously, I'm going for scrappy. :)

Is anyone else working on this challenge?

Wow great job! I've considered doing this. Great stash buster!

jmoore 02-06-2018 03:35 AM

No, but you’re doing a fantastic job...keep up the good work.

QuiltnNan 02-06-2018 03:50 AM

great job. i was tempted when i saw it posted, but am much too busy for such a commitment.

quilterpurpledog 02-06-2018 04:19 AM

Interesting challenge. Your blocks are very nice. I hope you can keep up with the commitment-It will indeed diminish the scraps-at least somewhat.

365 day challenge

Are your blocks 6" and are there patterns for them? Great stash buster.

Joset 02-06-2018 04:55 AM

i love it keep up the great work

SusieQOH 02-06-2018 06:24 AM

No but I love what you're doing! I just signed up for the Mystery Train.

Macybaby 02-06-2018 07:15 AM

Those are 3" blocks - I did it the first year (2016) but am thinking of doing another this year. My first was scrappy light/dark and I really like how it turned out in the end.

I think it's a wonderful skill building challenge.

stichinluvr 02-06-2018 11:31 AM

Where is the challenge located. It sounds like a good way to use my scraps - or at least start. Thanks

JanieH 02-06-2018 11:51 AM

I love your blocks - definitely scrappy!

I would also like to know where the challenge is located. Any information you can give will be appreciated!

Wow - your quilt is gorgeous and using the lights and darks really makes a statement.

Another gorgeous scrappy in the making.

Love the scrappy blocks!

I completed the first 16 blocks last year and plan on picking it up again after I complete the Bonnie Hunter Mystery.

JJBlaine 02-06-2018 03:08 PM

Thanksall for the compliments! These little blocks have been fun to put together so far. TBH, tho, I have not done the blocks every day. I think that would drive me a little nuts, and I would come to dread them. Instead, I let 3-4 days pass, then catch up.

The blocks for January were all 3". It is my understanding that in April, you start on 6" blocks. So, not a big dent in the stash so far, but maybe when it is all finished?

Your quilt was the one that inspired me to work on this challenge! I was on the fence when I saw all of the gorgeous color-coordinated versions online, but I'm on the fabric moratorium, so I was going to skip it. Then I did a search here and saw how stunning your quilt turned out all scrappy. So, thank you! :)

The challenge is located at Katheryn Kerr's 365 Challenge. A block is posted daily, and is available for 3 months. It is a free challenge. Like Macybaby said, it is a great skill builder. The blocks start simple, then the pieces get smaller and the patterns more intricate as you go along.

I hope to do one one day but I'm starting the Sylvia Bridal Sampler (I should get my book tomorrow). Your blocks looks great.... Good luck!

Macybaby....you amaze me with the quilts you create. This is beautiful.

I started mine in Sept 2016 but had to put it on hold when my ailing hubby moved in, and haven't had the interest to finish it. I have two rounds of 6" blocks made and waiting to go on this middle section, also another quilt on the frame to be quilted, so am not sure when my 365 Day Challenge will be done.

You can sign up here and get the blocks emailed each day, and check out the facebook site, you may find a link to get the blocks you have missed.

The way you and MacyBaby are making this is a great exercise in color. Each little block is an experiment in value. What a fun project!

I started 2 years ago and have about 2 months done...really need to get back to it, too. I pulled navy, beige and pinks from my stash to work on mine. The small size blocks really appealed to me.

quilt9226 02-08-2018 02:50 PM

I have all the patterns for 2017 but have not started making blocks. I am inspired by your scrappy quilt. Hopefully can work on it this year. I am still working on the Women of the Bible BOW from a couple years ago, have 13 of 42 blocks made using Civil War prints.

Feathers-N-Fur 02-12-2018 12:15 AM

Thank you JJBlaine and Macybaby. You've inspired me to give this a go as a scrappy. Lets see if I can stay motivated for a year. At least the early ones are easy so shouldn't take too long to catch up.
