3D pinwheels

I love polka dots! All the 3d pinwheels are made up of polka dot charm squares. I complemented the 3D theme with a flange border and prairie points.
I couldn't fathom doing pebbles across the whole quilt, so I left them in the border order and tried to create some wind for the pinwheels in the body. Thanks for looking! |
Wow, what a fun quilt and your quilting is wonderful and really compliments the quilt. Fabulous!

Your pinwheels look like they are just floating on the quilt

Awesome quilt and quilting!

This is a fabulous quilt! But as I was thinking about using your idea, I began to wonder what will happen when it gets washed. Will they need to be ironed or wad up?

the pinwheels were a little scrunchy, but did just fine overall since they have one edge of each leg sewn into the block, they were tacked done well enough. and the little bit of scrunchy-ness looked just fine with the new puckering from the quilt as a whole from being washed. The prairie points on the other hand did not do as well. I ended up taking a spritz bottle and an iron to them to get them to lay flat again, and then was thankful I didn't cover the entire border in prairie points! If it becomes a frequently washed quilt, I will likely give up taking the time to press the prairies, but since it is still new and fresh, it was worth those few extra minutes! |
