Wow, Rhueluna, that's really beautiful and so is the one in your avatar picture! I was thumbing through Quilt mags at the store today and there was another big quilt done with the ? New York ? blocks in colors like yours! Wish I'd taken more notice of which mag it was as my daughter has already decided this one is hers so I may want to do another! I'll find it next shopping trip!

Thank you. Glad you like it. Its called New York Beauty. There is a book out with several different varieties of this one. I see most people paper piece it, but I am not fond of paper piecing. I just cut the pieces out and hand piece them. Hand piecing seems to be easier for me to sew smaller pieces together. And Its relaxing to sit and do that.

Kitsie 05-28-2010 10:46 PM

OMG, I can't imagine doing it without paper! I use freezer paper so I don't have to sew through it. Your work is very impressive and I like the circular quilting, too.

Thank you. Its all hand pieced and hand quilted. Only route I go on the ones I want to be heirlooms. And its much more satisfying and gratifying to me.

I tried paper piecing some birds and I was miserable the entire time. I did more ripping than sewing. Gotta finish it now, but won't do another.

MISHNJIM 05-29-2010 02:25 AM

Love it...You did an outstanding job!!

Kitsie 05-29-2010 08:17 AM

I can imagine the satisfaction you must feel as with all the hand quilters. I have great admiration for you and your work. Would love to see a picture of the quilt hanging behind you.
