4 Runners
 

If you recall, I make gifts for all the women who attend our 4th of July family reunion. For the last two years I’ve given just one, a quilt. All the lady’s names are in a drawing. Last year a niece won the yellow & black, Trips by Bonnie Hunter pattern. The year before a nephew’s wife won an on point scrappy quilt. Last year I asked if they rather 1 person get a quilt or all ladies get something. Most said they liked it when everyone got a gift so this year I will give runners, tote bags, large zipper bags and anything else I come up with. Three of these runners will be for the 4th. My daughter already claimed one and I didn’t get a picture of it after it was quilted. You see it in the middle of the first picture , before quilting. I didn’t care for the one on the left until after I quilted it. Now I like it best. Made all 3 tangerine ones with 5 fat quarters and yardage of tangerine and the white/gray print. If you have any ideas for gifts to make, please let me know. I may make some aprons too. I need about 40-45 gifts.

Wow! That's a lot of gifts! Almost 20 years ago, my DD had a destination wedding. I made beach bags for each person/couple that attended. It was really neat to see my bags being used round and about the resort. I think you should keep things as simple as possible. You could possibly add pot holders or hot pads to your list. I make mine with a layer of the silver heat resistant batting and a layer of 80/20. And I make sure to quilt them with cotton thread.

I have to say that when I saw the title I wondered if you were considering buying a Toyota 4Runner and wanted opinions. Now I get it!

That is a lot of gifts to make. I agree with Ginger, keep it simple and stress free

Two months to make that many gifts? Are you wondering. "Why did I ask that question?" Yikes! I think tote bags are the solution too. They could be mass produced pretty easily by grouping the tasks together and sewing them all in stages until they are done. Two months is a very short time frame.

I had to laugh bc I’m use to making 80-90 gifts for my niece’s bus trips 3 or 4 times a year. They ranged from runners, embroidered journal covers, emb kitchen towels, kitchen boas, fold away totes, zipper bags to small items like keychains, emb memo notebook covers, cord wraps, hand sanitizer holders, etc.
If you saw a while back, I made totes from upholstery samples a friend gave me, that works in a furniture store. So I have 14-15 of those left. I think I have about 8 cosmetic zipper bags made and some smaller zip bags. I’ll get it done unless I have another fall. I don’t even want to think about that, though.

Cash’s mom I only can wish for a Toyota! -lol-I don’t wanna buy one, so unless one drops out of the sky, wishing is all I can do for a Rav4 or Highlander. It’s getting too hard to get in and out of my Honda car for me and hubby.

Toogie.....first of all, I absolutely love the last quilt with the nine patches and bright yellow blocks....that one is right up my alley. Hope you don't mind if I take a picture of my computer screen and save it for future reference to make a smaller one for Project Linus. Second, I drive a Jeep and can't imagine getting in or out of a Toyota 4 Runner to be easier. Left leg makes it just fine, but the right leg drags and one of these days I'm going to fall on my face to the pavement. I'm wishing the good car fairy gets me a car of normal height.

That happens. I'm still able to get in and out of my Mustangs so I'm gonna keep them for now. When I need another vehicle, a Toyota SUV or truck is definitely on my list. We have an old Toyota truck that I drive when I need to take my sewing machine. I love that truck!

My cousin requested bowl cozies, so I am making her a set of 4. I think a pair of cozies would make a nice gift, and their mates would also enjoy them. I made a tortilla/bread warmer for a friend's birthday present. It went together quickly.

Toogie, you are sooo generous with your time, talent and treasure. I hope these relatives realize what a jewel you are. I agree with everyone else: go simple and stress free. I would love anything that was a gift.
