MellieKQuilter 07-20-2011 03:49 PM

I love that fabric! What is it?

Jammin' Jane 07-20-2011 03:54 PM

It looks great with black sashing! I really like it!
Get that far and see if it needs an additional colored border or just black.
Post it for us to see!

Love that fabric and what you did with it.

I'm not sure about sashing these beautiful blocks. I kind of like the way each block becomes a surprise as you see it and how they blend but not quite and all the movement is great. I think a very narrow black sashing would be nice and give a little control the movement in this quilt (which I love). Another quilt posted earlier this week with a sashing ? and the idea of grouping 4 blocks together and sashing around them was suggested. I think this same idea would be great here. Just keep it narrow so as not to overpower the blocks!
Love it!
peace :D

I know it is a lot of work, but if you could try adjusting the blocks so they butt up right next to each other, a better idea of how they would look without sashing would be a great help in deciding. Right now it looks like white sashing between the blocks.

yup go for it

Well, depends on just how big the blocks are. if you take two finished blocks and lay them on top of the black and slide them closer and farther apart you will see what works best for your eye. Trust your eye and remember to stand away or look in a mirror over your shoulder and you get a different perspective on the subject. My guess is 1" if doing it around each block and 1 1/2" if you try around four blocks together. Hope this helps and it is going to be fabulous whatever you choose!
peace :D

Try a very narrow strip of red before the black. I used this idea with my 4PP (the blue sashing is much darker than picture shows).

That is wild fabric and I really like it. Black is a good choice.

redpurselady 07-21-2011 06:02 AM

I have the same fabric! Thought I would use it for a Bow Tuck purse.

Love your blocks - the black sashing will certainly make them pop!!
