Finished this over the weekend, for my older daughter. She's 10.... We are redoing her room and I wanted to make her a "Young Lady's" quilt.

Twin size with hand-quilted dog bones and puppy paws, in honor of our puppy, Hazel!

That's really pretty!!
What a darling quilt for a young lady!

Pam S 09-21-2009 04:46 AM

Very pretty. Nice job.

chairjogger 09-21-2009 04:49 AM

Pretty, please, share how did you quilt it? how does one quilt such a large item on a small machine?
Love to be able to do this.

Your colores are very pretty ! ^5 .. nice job !

pocoellie 09-21-2009 04:56 AM

Very pretty!! Your daughter will love it.

Pea Soup 09-21-2009 04:59 AM

Thank you Ninnie, Pam and pocoellie!

Ellen Thanks for asking, I drew the dog paws and bones and then cut them out (anything stiff, like cardboard, template plastic, ets.). With a pencil, I traced directly onto the quilt, while the quilt was wound on the frame.

LOL! I wish my quilting frame were small... The 3 poles on which I roll the backing, top and batting are just shy of 80" length. It stands about 5 feet high (standing on cinderblocks). Definitely the centerpiece of the family room!

With patience and a lot of basting, you can definitely do this without a quilting rack.

Your daughter is sooooooo lucky. Hope she takes an interest in quilting - you did a great job quilting. Post a pic of it on her bed.

Quilt4u 09-21-2009 05:00 AM

Very nice.

Pea Soup 09-21-2009 05:05 AM

Thank you Quilt4U!

Quilter Girl Thanks! I am glad you like it... she loves it but not interested in learning. She is more into electronics and the such.

 I'd love to take a pic of it on her bed, but her walls are so horrible. We are in the process of ripping off old wall paper and is 1/2 done.... VERY OLD PAPER and very ugly. Red white and blue and clashes with her new colors.

Thank u mum

why u call it crazy .............. its wise

bebe 09-21-2009 05:53 AM

nice love the colors and pattern!!!

kwhite 09-21-2009 06:20 AM

It is lovely. I do not understand why it is a crazy quilt though either.

BTW my DD does not want to learn either. There is another thread talking about what happens to your stash when you die. I wonder too. My daughter will not use it.

Ducky 09-21-2009 06:36 AM

It's so bright and cheery. Very pretty!

Debbie1 09-21-2009 07:53 AM

Thank you everyone!!! I am so glad you seasoned quilters like it.

I am flattered you would be interested. It's called a Crazy Quilt because the four patch is cut in non-parallel ways...

PS
LOL! I don't worry about my stash before I go... whatever I leave, which probably won't be much -- my youngest will gladly take. It's a battle with my things now and trust me, I can't turn around!!!

sewjoyce 09-21-2009 10:40 AM

That is so pretty!!!! :D :D

great color combos! I hope that she likes it. Have fun with the room makeover!! Those kinds of things are usually a blast-especially the making of things and the shopping that always seems to go with it.

Kyiav10 09-22-2009 07:00 PM

Beautiful. Perfect for a roung lady.

I just love the colors and the pattern in this. It's absolutely going to be the focal point of her room, and it's going to make it look so cozy and inviting.

Pea Soup 09-23-2009 02:11 AM

Thank you everyone!!!

She loves the quilt and is now nagging us to hurry with her room! (I'd like that to happen too! LOL)

reneebobby 09-23-2009 02:44 AM
