Affairs of the Heart, my first 16 blocks completed
1 Attachment(s)
I have been working on my Affairs of the Heart quilt blocks since March after seeing the gorgeous examples here on the board. I had never done needleturn applique before this and so I enlarged the pattern to around 10" and I picked the easier blocks to start with. I watched so many videos on the different ways you could do needleturn applique until I found a way that worked for me.
I am really enjoying working on them, and can't wait to see each finished block. I am running out of room on my design wall so I thought I would take a photo of the first 16 blocks I have completed, only 20 more to go :p |
Absolutely gorgeous! I'm doing Affairs of the Heart, too, and I think when I'm finished I'm going to do another, just to use your colors!

Fabulous job, Woody. Whatever you learned through your searching, it sure works well for you.
very beautiful!..love it...
Oh my goodness Woody, these are spectacular. I too have just taken my first tentative steps at needle turn applique and started my first block last night. I am not as ambitious as you, though. I chose a much simpler applique for my first but your have inspired me so much with your beautiful examples.
I have found I really like needle turn applique. The inside corners give be a bit of a fit, even with clipping them but I am getting the hang of it. Judging by your pictures you appear to have mastered the technique. Simply droolworthy eye candy. |
Beyond gorgeous! Please keep us up to date as you work on this project.
Awesome!!!!
I am going to start appliqué as a new skill and am in awe of your blocks. Thanks so much for sharing.

Absolutely beautiful Woody. How big is this quilt going to be? 20 more to go??? The blocks are so, so gorgeous and I think I speak for everyone on the board - we can hardly wait to see the finished quilt.

Those are so gorgeous!!!
Fabulous to the MAX!! Your color selection is wonderful.
I discovered this book through postings on this board and bought it in July. This past week I went on my first shop hop here in Phoenix area and purchased many Moda Marbles 1/4 yard cuts which I plan to pair with fabric from my stash of batiks. How much fun is a gal allowed to have? |
Awwwwsome!!!!
wow, those are beautiful!
Your blocks are sooooooo beautiful!!! I love your color choices :)
Totally GORGEOUS!!
That is breathtaking. I had never been a fan of black till I started seeing how it makes the colors pop. Another one for my todo list.
Oh Wow!! Now I want to do this. Can you tell us which method of needle turn applique worked for you? I don't want to do the fusible web raw edge type applique but would rather do the more traditional needle turn.
Beautiful. Your colors are fantastic and you are certainly picking up the knack for needle turn applique. It's stunning.
Fantastic.... excellent
