I love the cornerstone idea using the animals. I lived in South Africa and got to Kruger Park lots of times so this reminded me of staring at the veldt and trying to see the animals lying in the grass. My hubby could always find them but I couldn't. Glad you pointed them out! LOL

When I was a child, my father was a merchant seaman and his regular route was to South Africa then up the coast to Kenya. He did that route for over 10 years. He also went to Kruger Park and brought us back wonderful stories and photos. One trip he went to a refuge of some sort and I remember a photo of him feeding a cheetah ice cream out of a cup. He said that cat could rattle a house apart with its purr. I was supposed to take a trip with him when I was 14 but it all fell apart and I never made it. Then he had to change companies and spent the last part of his career working a ship from NY to Puerto Rico. I think he missed Africa a lot. This is why one of these quilts is for my brother who inherited many of the African pieces of art my dad brought back.

All of these quilts are beauties - I love African type prints and have been collecting fabrics for quite awhile- you are an inspiration - my favorite is a tug if war between 1 and 3 -

Everything ties together so well - the colours, the panto, the name - it's perfect! Great quilt!

Great pattern for your prints, or any themed prints really. Love the animal cornerstones and the quilting. Really a stunning quilt.

Beautiful.

Looks like the squares are all the same pattern but the fabrics make them all so different - love the animals in the corners and think the quilting looks like the eye of an exotic bird - so appropriate and clever.
