to make a African quilt, my son bought me a beautiful African quilt book for my birthday,

I now live in the U.S.I will take out my African quilt book and make some of the nice patterns in the book, and thanks for sharing your pic, beautiful work.

Mud cloth refers to the technique used for printing the fabric. They draw the design on with mud and then dye the fabric like the process used for batiks but mud is used rather than wax. The fabric is a type of batik and is a wonderful fine cotton. That is why I wanted to use large pieces so as not to waste a single piece of it. The rest was in my stash and I bought the navy blue at my LQS. Finding these beautiful fabrics from other countries is so much fun I also have a piece of Indonesian batik. That needs to be finished. Another one to layer for hand quilting!

Such beautiful fabrics! I have made quilts with an African theme and I have lots of African fabric. However, it has become difficult to purchase authentic African fabric, so I know that you must treasure your fabrics since you bought them in Africa.
