Here is the quilt that I was hand quilting for my DFIL but he died way before I hardly even started! I stitched this while mourning. I lost both my Dad & DFIL in the same month, March if 2009.) It became my waiting quilt. Any where I had to wait I quilted on it. Once I finished I was so ready to be through that I put the binding on by machine!

Here's a link to where I posted about it last fall!

I like the whole cloth look of the back.

My Stitches are bigger than I like. I couldn't stitch as small as the dotted line so I skipped every other one.

I see that I need to use the lint roller!!!

Machine binding!

Good to finish a project, isn't it? You did a pretty job, and now have it to remember your two dads.

sure looks like small stitches to me. Wonderful work

trolleystation 09-02-2011 05:26 PM

Maybe it should be named your 'patience' quilt. It is wonderful.

It is sooo good to finish it! I had thought that I would give it to my DDIL but my DH wants to keep it for memories! This will be the first quilt I've ever kept. Now that it's finished I'm glad that he wants me to keep it!

Oh yes you can! You start one stitch at a time & progress from there!

I believe that quilting (especially hand) is Great therapy for me. It was so good every time someone went to the Dr.s office or to the hospital. (I have a big family!) It kept me calm.

Oh thank you!! I can do smaller! I did learn stitch control with this quilt. I learned to use my right thumb to make my stitches to come up exactly where I want it. :-) (On the dotted line!)

Now that this one is finished I think I'll make my GFG into a 'waiting quilt.' I like the idea of naming this 'My Patience Quilt,' those little squares drove me crazy. Every time I would get a rhythm going I'd have to stop & do a square!

Lovely quilt. Amazing quilt.

dublb 09-03-2011 10:56 AM

This is the first quilt that I spray basted & the first quilt with wool batting. I love both. I have used 'em in all of my machine quilts since & one other hand quilt. I took a break from this one & made a lap quilt for my son's swim team booster club. (It only took 3 months! No small blocks to quilt around!)
