I have a ton of scraps but never like the look of scrap quilts for some reason. I love this one! Thanks for posting!
|
What a great quilt!
|
Absolutely love your quilt! What a great way to use up those little pieces! This is one time being a "hoarder" is a good thing. Thanks for sharing.

I love your idea. I think it might be a great way to use up my scraps.

I love this scrappy. I just got through sewing a ton of odd size strips together, think I will cut them crossways and do like you did. I am piecing a lot of wheel chair lap quilts and my quilting friends are helping me quilt them, so I think this would be a good one to make. Thanks for sharing.

It's cute - well worth the time you must have put into it!
|
Love your quilt and am happy to say that I save all scraps. The tiny ones I save with thread bits and use for stuffing in dog/cat beds. Your bits and pieces quilt is very pretty and inspiring!
|
I use scraps all the time. It costs as much as the yardage you purchase so why throw it away. Very cute quilt of scraps.
|
I love those bright strips so fun but the large white strips are calling out for some unusual quilting. Just a thought.

I also save every little piece. I'm liking this idea. The large white pieces really sets off the scraps colors.

I save my scraps for my string bins. When straightening my ends before cutting strips I cut them just a little larger than I used to so they can be used for strings. Mostly 1" to 1 1/4" - I'll also join lengthwise and put them together. Here is my latest string block quilt. Needed a fast baby quilt, and then I bought a wonderful applique design mono and had to use that!

This is the cutest scrap quilt I've ever seen. THIS I could do. LOL

Love your quilt. I need to get mine out and get busy..

Most of my quilts are scrap quilts. I am currently making a red, white and blue log cabin quilt for a wounded soldier. Here are some of my latest quilts, both quilts went to the 2 charities that I make quilts for. The first picture is a Spiderweb quilt, forgot how long it takes to quilt a twin size quilt. The second quilt is a log cabin, it hung in my guild's quilt show last year. The quilt judge was amazed at the sheer number of scraps, over 200 different fabrics; one of my grandkids counted them.
Both quilts went to the 2 charities I sew quilts for; The Linus Connection and Thank You Quilters, the 2 groups I sew for. #1 is for in-need kids, #2 is for wounded soldiers at Ft. Hood Army base in Texas. Sharon Weaver |

Hee hee.. confession. its not white.. well it WAS white but it got dyed baby blue.. lol... just enough to soften it a bit and not make the strips shout " IN YOUR FACE" lol..
Second confession.. wasnt me who dyed it.. lol.. someone did, hated it and gifted it to me.. lol.. Soooooooo that makes this quilt almost free to make.. lol... Sharon |
Love it ! first scrappy quilt I love. Now I know what to do with my scraps. I never throw anything away. I just love all the ideas I get from this board. My quilt club thinks I am so smart. So I have begun forwarding some of the ideas from here to them so they now know my secret !

I love your [place of residence]!! and your quilt.
|
So you sew all these little pieces together then cut a straight line for sewing? I'm trying figure out how you did
that...I love it and I'm not a modern person, or a great sewer. |
It's really a cool quilt!
|
Fantastic piecing and quilting. Creativity and simplicity......can't beat it!!! Thanks for sharing.
|
Your scrappy is definitely a hit:) Very attractive...will have to steal your idea for the future:) Thanks for sharing.
|
Pretty darn clever, I usually throw those away, or give them to a friend, she donates them to the school for kids to use in art classes.
|
Oooooh, I love it. Great job.
|
Love this scrappy! I'm a hoarder too of tiny pieces -- just can't throw them away!! Nice job!!
|
Very pretty |
Love it! I'm going to try it using black background for my nephew.

Thanks everyone... Appreciate all the comments....
Kat asked how i did this.. Well..... it begins with a hoarder like me. lol.. Nah.... lol I sew all my scrap strips to phone book pages...remove paper, starch STARCH, iron, and Ill measure and cut out sqs (6.5 /9 /10/ 11in sqs... depending on how long the strips are) usually after i make my sqs cuts, there's a strip of unused fabric.. ill trim THAT scrap into 5in, 2.5in, 1.5in OR 1 in strips. depending on whats left how wide i can get it.. it gets saved until i have multiple strips of the length i want.. in this case i wanted the 1 inch strips 65 inch long... hope this helps.. |
