Allena's Path quilt

I began this project in 2018, making my templates and cutting out all the pieces, which by the way there are only 240 curved pieces. This quilt is a replica of one made, circa 1932, by my great grandmother, Allena M. Hasty Jeffries. I have the honor of owning her quilt. Like hers, mine is entirely hand sewn and hand quilted. I replicated the quilting design too with the exception of the borders. Although there is an enormous amount of hand work, I found it quite relaxing. I also found my mind wandering and contemplating what our ancestors lives were like. I'd like to think grandma approves and is smiling. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful quilt and a great tribute to your great Grandma! Quite an accomplishment all hand done!👏🏻

My mind wanders too. My grandma on Mom's side hated sewing and only made one quilt, which I still have, double wedding ring. It had to be excruciating for her. I took after Dad's Mom who was quite crafty, fortunately.

Was interested in a WWII story about a test pilot, Eric Brown. Lived to be 97. Several documentaries on U tube, if you can sew and listen at the same time.

Yes, yes, yes! I am in love with this variation of Drunkards Path! You nailed it! Your grandmother would be proud. Thanks for sharing.

The quilt is beautiful and especially your hand quilting which is lovely, even stitches. I tried hand quilting, once. I didn't have a single stitch look like one of yours and I didn't care for that idea of practice, practice, practice. I admire you.

Huge round of applause for this gorgeous work! How wonderful! I hope the 2 quilts get to live close together in your home! :)

Thank you all for the lovely comments. My stitches aren't nearly as small as my grandmother's but she also didn't have any batting in hers. I have her quilt displayed with ones made by another grandmother & a great aunt. I treasure them all.
