Aloha - cute little Hawaiian shirts
3 Attachment(s)
I had several prints from my Maui trip a few years ago and started this quilt before my trip a month back. I picked up some more and love the way this turned out. It is a FREE pattern from Moda http://www.modafabrics.com/fp_cfac-sunshine.pdf
I changed it a little to make a bit smaller so I could use minky on the back without piecing (it is 53 x 60). The collars are NOT flush with the quilt so you have be very careful when quilting. I quilted it with a wave pattern as I do not do free motion. |
The wave pattern goes very well with the theme of Hawaiian shirts, evocative of the water surrounding the islands. Nice mix of fabrics.
Those turned out so cute! Great quilting design for it.
That quilt turned out perfect for the Hawaiian fabrics. The minky on the back with with wave quilting really brought it all together so well. TFS

Sew cute and neat back and quilting!
This is so pretty. It will make some young man a very precious gift.
I absolutely love this! Piecing and quilting is fabulous. I do have a question though. Did you use any batting between the top and the Minky?
Adorable quilt and love the shirt fabrics you used. The quilting pattern is so perfect for your quilt. Thank you for the link to get the pattern.
Cute quilt and I love the wave pattern. Did you use a ruler of a stencil? I've been looking for something like this.

I bought the pattern from Anita Shackelford it is called modern curves https://www.anitashackelford.net/sho...--statler.html this one is for short arm machines. I have an HQ Avante. I wrote and asked them and they said the Short Arm version of the pattern works best for my machine.
Thank you ... I've bookmarked this website. |
Very cute little shirts!
Love this. I bought the pattern and kit several years ago but immediately had buyers remorse and it’s just sitting on my shelf.
That’s a cute way to showcase the different prints.
Such a cute quilt. My husband has over 20 something of those kind of shirts. Maybe I will snitch some Ha!
Beautiful! What a great way to use up the old Hawaii shirts.
Such a cute quilt! I agree about the quilting looking like waves.
is so cute and would make a great gift for my sons. Thanks for sharing.
Super cute! Great assortment of prints, and the waves quilting is fun too.
Cute quilt. I like the waves..very appropriate for Hawaii!
Very fun fabrics, and I love your quilting choice. Great quilt!
Your hawaiian shirt quilt is delightful. It's a great way to have souvenirs that don't gather dust on a shelf.
 |
Wow this brought tears to my eyes. My husband passed away almost five years ago. I only saved his Hawaiian shirts now I know what to do with them. I have to make three for each of the kids. I am totally blown away. I have to get busy on this maybe not for Christmas maybe get them done for Fathers Day. I have too many UFO's right now. I have to get them done then this is next on my list. I have not had the heart to cut them but after seeing this it is perfect.
How cute. I made one many years ago and it is one of our favourites.
Aloha! I live in Hawaii and I’ve been looking all over for this pattern and I can’t find it anywhere. Would you be willing to share a copy of your pattern?
