My family went to Amish town in Pennsylvania a couple of weekends ago. I finally had time to download these pictures. These were handmade. What do you think?

The quilt and pillows are lovely. That Amish do fabulous work. What town did you visit? Lancaster and Intercourse are my two favorite Amish communities.

We were out there in March and are going back in August. I plan you do some shopping in the morning before we see "In the Beginning" at Sight and Sound. Can't wait! There are some really beautiful quilt shops.

Oh, I always wanted to do a Cathedral window quilt piece. It is all folded fabric with basting to keep shape.

The folded star was a pattern someone wanted .. on this board just lately.

Thanks for sharing the beauty !!

I agree, the most impressive is the third picture !

Beautiful work! Gotta go to PA. someday.

Bevanger 06-27-2008 04:44 AM

the amish sure do beautiful work don't they?

Quilting Aggi 06-27-2008 05:06 AM

They do absolutely stunning work. I have never been to Amish country, but someday I hope to see it for my own eyes instead of photos. As beautiful as photos are, they don't give the quilts justice than seeing it for yourself.

judyjo 06-27-2008 05:57 AM

I especially liked the Cathedral Window pillow. I would love to make one but I'm afraid it wouldn't last very long if I put it on the sofa.

I just finished this quilt last night and thought I would post it. I love it. It is going to go to - my husbands first wife's nefew and his bride. I guess that makes me the step-aunt (???). They are expecting in August.

You're absolutely right!!! It was so beautiful that I wanted to take them all home. Of course, if I do, I can't convince my hubby I need more fabric.

Yep- it's there- right by Bird in Hand. Lots of cool names in the area. :)

There is so much to do in Amish country. It's absolutely beautiful country and has many festivities throughout the summer.

I adore those quilts and would love to spend some time in Amish country just drooling!

sondray 07-02-2008 04:56 AM

Beautiful quilts.

chairjogger 07-02-2008 07:11 AM

Saturday's in Amish country is really a busy time. If you can go on a wednesday, that is the "town" day for the Amish.. at least many people there before the "English" crowds.

Their quilts are knows all around the country. Check out some prices! Last one I saw was $1500. That is fifteen hundred dollars ! It was the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen. Ever ! Wonder if they do get their price?

Holmes County Ohio www.visitamishcountry.com is a great site. Holmes county ohio is the largest Amish living site in the world. I would love to see Pennsylvania's Amish country.

chairjogger 07-02-2008 07:46 AM

Dear Marliba,
I love your quilt. It is beautiful and sweet with the center Suzy Zoo characters.

I hope whomever gets this will charish it !

Wow! Your quilts are really special. Cathedral Windows pattern "escapes" me. Have tried and tried and I'm not successful. Yours are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Joan 07-13-2008 03:35 PM

The Lone Star Quilt is a winner in my book.

Wow
, wow, wow. When you consider how much work went into that quilt, $900 doesn't seem like that much. (although I don't know anyone who could afford to spend that kind of money on a quilt)
