Amish stars

2 Attachment(s)
I finally learned how to make Amish Stars, so made 2 quilted Amish Star hot pads.
For my first ones I think they turned out pretty good.

great job ..

Your first one? It looks like you've had a lot more practice than that. It's gorgeous.

Good job!!

Beautifully done!

Too pretty to put a pot on!

ckcowl 03-04-2018 02:51 PM

I obviously need ( lots) of practice on the binding. I guess I’m going to have to make a couple more. The pictures really show the bad binding job one worse than other.
At least the worse one was the first one.
They were kind of fun to make

Good job. That is a project the has been on my bucket list for about 4 years.

These are really nice.

Love them both! I have the pattern - need to make some myself.

Love your Amish Stars - you did a great job choosing the colors!

sewbizgirl 03-05-2018 06:13 AM

Beautiful... didn't know they were called Amish stars. They look like a lot of work. Someone sent me one in a swap and we use it on our table every day.

Exactly my thought, too!

You did really good--don't think I could do that well--your old secret pal.....

momsbusy 03-05-2018 07:58 AM

So pretty. I made one years ago and I still love it.

bevm 03-05-2018 08:44 AM

Last week I sewed my first star too. I had a difficult time with the binding so ended up turning it wrong side out and sewed around it. Yours is very pretty. I think they're fun to make.

Oh, good idea! Don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I think my next one I will try one without binding. See how it goes. I kind of like making the. Might have to make a whole quilt....wouldn’t that be a heavy one?!?

jmoore 03-06-2018 05:23 AM

Lovely pot holder...I’ve always wanted to learn how to make them.

there is a pattern with the printed foundation, you place your prairie points along the lines on the foundation fabric then stitch. They were fun, only difficulty ( other than choosing the colors/ fabrics) is that binding. But my second one turned out better than the first, so guess it just takes a little practice & patience.
The pattern/ foundation I used was from “PlumEasy Patterns- Folded Star HotPad”

javin22 03-11-2018 10:55 AM

Your fist ones turn out better than mine. I got the middle crooked.

djmat 03-11-2018 11:26 AM

Looks challenging, but yours are wonderful. Love your colors, too!
