I finally finished this tonight...I started it two weeks ago...have worked on it a bit off and on..wanted to get it done so I could work on different things tomorrow...mindless sewing projects! LOL
This is for my BFF ( she bought the fabric but refused to try to do all the Y-seams) I struggled a bit with them but muscled my way through and I can't say they are perfect..but I can say they are done. :-)
This is her collection of fabric called "love" and her free pattern on her website.

Wow! Looks great, wonderful intersections, great balance and placement of colors... :D

Teacup 03-14-2010 04:30 AM

I'd say you are quite the friend to do all those Y-seams for someone! It's a great quilt.

knlsmith 03-14-2010 05:05 AM

Verryy pretty! love all the colors

Bailey's mom 03-14-2010 05:24 AM

That is amazing! You are so talented! I just cannot figure out how you get so much done with such a large wonderful family! You are such an inspiration!

Chele 03-14-2010 05:26 AM

It's so pretty! I love that fabric collection but I'm afraid to cut into it!

socr8v 03-14-2010 07:07 AM

Wow this looks like a lot of work ! the fabric is so pretty !

Esqmommy 03-14-2010 07:37 AM

Very pretty Charismah - way to go on the y-seams, as they say, practice makes perfect - do you think you'd take 'em on again? I was going to make a small attic window doll quilt, and I realized it was y's and ran screaming...I'm having to do so many with my DJ quilt, so I'm really limiting my exposure. Probably be smart to do more on bigger projects, huh.

Yours is fantastic!!

littlehud 03-14-2010 08:00 AM

Wow, you did a wonderful job on that. Love the fabric. Great quilt.

Candace 03-14-2010 08:00 AM

That fabric line is one of my favorites. Brave girl taking on those seams. I'm doing a clam shell quilt with a million curves. I won't be doing another!

heather_campbell 03-14-2010 08:11 AM

this is so amazing. I love amy butler fabric and this turned out just wonderful!

Ditter43 03-14-2010 09:11 AM

What is there to say about a "sexy hexy love quilt" Is that the name of the fabric line or the pattern name? Lots of really neat fabrics and looks like you did a good job putting it together. Please show us the quilt after it is quilted.....

I actually want to make one of these quilts again.....so YES I will be taking it on again..but not for awhile..I want to do some other things first. I would keep doing them...practice does make perfect.

SUSAN 03-14-2010 09:19 AM

I love this collection as well...I love all of Amy's stuff anyhow.....BUt I was going to tell you there is a fabulous book out there called "Material Obsession" by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke and it uses alot of Amy's fabrics ( not this collection) and they have some patterns in the book that would make it easier to cut into your Amy fabric....I may try one myself.

Marcia 03-14-2010 06:08 PM

I love your quilt---you can't go wrong with Amy Butler fabrics!

deedles215 03-14-2010 06:19 PM

Love it!

RedGarnet222 03-14-2010 06:21 PM

Great job chrisma!

Sheila Elaine 03-14-2010 11:41 PM

Charisma, your quilt is fabulous. I have a Jelly Roll of the Love fabric that I've sewn into strips...may make a French braid, or a strippy quilt. I hope I don't have to take it all apart. I will buy a couple more JRs soon so I can work on it. I just adore the colors & designs. Her Southwestern fabs are great too.

Fiber Artist 03-15-2010 12:42 PM

amma 03-15-2010 12:45 PM

Good Job!!! Your BFF is going to love it :D:D:D

daisyboo9 03-15-2010 01:05 PM

fabulous job.....now that I have the mitered corners down, I am going to have to take on Y seams! Tell me is it like being intimidated with mitres? Their bark is worse than their bite?

Great job Mom!

Great job Mom!

Actually I think Mitered corners are a bit easier..but that may be just because I have more experience with them...LOL. I have no idea. You will definatly have to try the Y-seams. It made a FABULOUS quilt!

johnniek 03-15-2010 03:50 PM

i LIKE ALL THE COLORS IN THIS, VERY NICE. COMGS.

Jingle 03-16-2010 05:06 AM

Beautiful and you sure did a great job !!!

johnniek 03-16-2010 10:55 AM

FOR THOSE INTERESTED, I WAS WATCHING YOU TUBE, MISSOURI QUILTING FORUM, AND SHE HAS THE NEATEST WAY TO BIND A QUILT, SHOWS YOU IN DETAIL. THAT IS THE ONE THING THAT I HATE TO DO. YA ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Nancy in Louisiana 03-17-2010 06:58 PM

Great color arrangements - beautiful quilt. Did you get the message from your BFF that it's OK with her if you sent it along to me? I think it's some type of outreach project she's working on...quilts for those whose friends don't quilt.

The quilt really looks fantastic, and you have every right to be proud. What a great gift to your friend -- I'm sure she'll treasure it (even if she did buy the fabric). And thanks for taking the fear out of Y seams -- I feel a lot more confident about tackling them now.

Lisa T 03-17-2010 07:06 PM

I love this quilt!! I am making my own version but not the same way she does it. I am building log cabins around my huge hexagons. And I am not using Amy's fabrics, but I do love them. I think this is the first one I have seen made other than the one on her website. You did a wonderful job on it!

wvdek 03-17-2010 07:34 PM

Wow, that is the biggest hex I have ever seen!

I have a pattern for a 1/2" or so and compatred to yours, mine will take forever to make! Think I'll enlarege mine :}

Looks great!

Oklahoma Suzie 03-19-2010 03:17 PM

TrudieRu 12-12-2010 01:12 PM

Good afternoon,
I am ready to start the Love quilt, yours turned out beautifully. I am only slightly experienced in quilting.
Do you have any advice, how difficult was the project?
Thank you
Trudie~
