Here is a 40th anniversary quilt that I just finished for a coworker of my husbands. He called me to ask if I would make a quilt using fabrics from their kids & grandkids clothing......I am a sucker for sentimental things, so I couldn't possibly say no. AND he gathered almost all the fabrics himself & his wife doesn't know anything about it....it will be a surprise on their anniversary May31st. It really was a joy to make for him.

Thank you all for your kind comments.....but don't be fooled. While it is true I am very sentimental & loved the idea of this quilt, I did get compensated nicely for my work. $$$$$ hehehe!!

How delightful to be able to make a sentimental gift for a co-worker, AND to be paid for it!

Hi Jaynie,

What a work of art. I assume that his passion is fishing and her occupation or passion is nursing? This will have such meaning for both of them.

Nice job!

Jaynie, it is beautiful! Did you do your own quilting? The stippling looks perfect!

gaigai 05-29-2009 06:56 AM

Jaynie,

I love your quilt. And how great that there are empty blocks for future family members!! Sure to be a cherished heirloom!

Jaynie 05-29-2009 01:23 PM

Thanks ya'll, and yes I do my own quilting on my Gammill Premier Plus & the nurse fabric is because she is a traveling nurse & he is soon to retire and loves to fish. He actually gave it to her early & he told my husband that she loved it.

sewjoyce 05-29-2009 01:34 PM

That is such a sweet quilt!!
