My grandmother made this, and I don't know how I ended up with it. I suppose this would be a whole-cloth quilt, same fabric on both sides. Having 6 children and 12 grandchildren she has always been pragmatic, not worried about the stuff most of us are always stressing about. But her quilts are made with so much love they are the most beautiful and comforting around. She'll probably kill me if she finds out I'm posting this.

She most likely picked this plaid fabric from the dumpster of a textile factory. Instead of batting, there's some kind of dense heavy fabric in the middle, my favorite type of blanket. It's about 6' x 3 1/2' making it a perfect TV blanket. It's also my bedtime blanket since I need much more covers than DH, so it doesn't take up the whole bed.

This blanket is a great big, warm hug.

No binding. I'm still not quite sure how she put this together.

It looks like something to get cozy under and watch a nice movie.

It matches your avatar flower face frame - not ugly at all!

Nothing ugly about that quilt. Looks warm and inviting to me. Thanks for sharing it with us.

looks like she folded the edges over and top stitched.

I like it. I think it is pretty. I would snuggle under it.

Well, one side is folded over like in the picture, but the rest are not folded over. It looks like she folded the ends inside and then sewed along the outside. Everything about the stitching is inconsistent - colors, direction, the quilting stops and then picks up a few inches later. I think she did whatever she did when she got there. That's how she rolls.

How lovely...maybe she pillowcased it, if only the one side shows a seam. I think it's a great quilt....with all those kids and grands it's a wonder she managed any time at all for quilting. The main thing is it got done! Which is more than a lot of people can say.
