Another baby quilt done

This baby quilt has already gone back to its owner. But, I wanted to show it off anyway. I have 3 more on the frame right now. I am chain quilting them. Saves loading each one individually. I am floating the tops in order to do it this way and I'm wondering why I haven't been doing it all along. I seem to get a better scald on it this way. I played a little on this one using some of Leah Day's free motion designs. What do you think?

Looks like you did a very nice job on the quilting!

Very nice!! Your idea of chain quilting them is interesting, I haven't heard of that before.

I've heard the term 'floating the top' several times on this Board. What does this mean?

I'm just learning about using a long arm. What is a Scald on a quilt? Thanks.

Love your chain quilting method! Sweet baby quilt and great job on the FMQ!

GEMRM 09-04-2014 04:16 PM

Ok, I'd like to know what "scald" means, and also, what you mean by "chain" quilting them.

Floating - for the member who asked, means that you don't mount the top to the bars, but baste it across the top and go from there!
