After having made four and a half of these, I've decided I don't really like doing the ties on the side. I'd like to have snaps instead but have no idea how to put them on....guess I'll go check them out at the notions counter.

Anyway, yet another.....

That is so cool. I love your fabrics. I'm not sure how to fasten the sides with a snap either. Let us know what you come up with.,

ShowMama 07-01-2010 01:38 PM

ROWR!!!

quiltaholic 07-01-2010 01:56 PM

Wow love your bag

charmpacksplus 07-01-2010 02:00 PM

Oh, I like it! I have some tiger print in my bow tucks to-do stack. I have made these bags without the ties on the side. I also have used the magnetic snaps in place of the button and loop.

Nice. Here's a link to a tutorial on how to add a snap to a purse. The snaps I bought at Joann's didn't have instructions, but the ones I bought at the quilt shop did. FYI - I use a seam ripper to make a small hole for the prongs.

Love that cat.............

I have read the instructions/pattern for the Bow Tucks, but I still don't understand when you put the fusible fleece on. Is that the first thing you do once the pieces are cut out?
Thanks.

Yes, you cut the pieces, put on the fusible fleece, quilt it, then assemble.

This is my 1st Bow Tucks Purse.

ladybug45 07-02-2010 04:08 AM

Could you maybe use the magnetic closure things instead of snaps?

Well, I did Number 5, (gotta add ties and a button) for a friend of mine who needs some cheering up. So I thought this fabric would work well:

SassySewer53 07-02-2010 04:54 PM

I like it!!!!

pgthom 07-02-2010 05:40 PM

An idea: Where you would insert the ties, instead put tabs and put snaps or hook and loop fastener on each one. You could us the magnetic snaps made for purses, or decorative ones like for clothing. Either are easy to install.

acesgame 07-02-2010 05:47 PM

What about a small say 2 inch piece of elastic sewn while stretched alittle. Then it would gather nicely and be hidden by the lining. No snaps or ties, just alittle rouching. Everyone has alittle elastic laying around, don't they??

I love that fabric!!! Lucky friend!

Each of the bags are just as beautiful of the rest. YOu are doing a great job. I just have to get myself motivated and get the nerve to try mine. So much fabric, so many beautiful bags, so little time.

If I could just get off this computer more, I might get more work done. This group is addictive!!!! Once I get on line, it is just so hard to turn it off.

dkabasketlady 07-08-2010 07:54 AM

Splendid, it brings out the animal in me,lol!!! Love your fabrics!

Kaye-Kaye 07-08-2010 08:30 AM

I love #5, that material is beautiful. I like it just the way it is. Do you have to put something on the sides? I have the pattern, but haven't tried it yet. I like the shape of it just like that. Hmmmm...
