I begin to wonder if I will ever finish this center medallion, as it keeps "evolving."

Time to panic has arrived, for the wedding is the 19th of August! eek!

The birds and the little tree on the right are from "Critter Caboodle" by Linda Hohag, www.brandywine-design.com

This block measures about 36" square

thanks for the peek Marcela, it's looking very nice, I really like the blessing. You're right tho....you better get on the ball! Too bad it's not a virtual quilt, then we could all pitch in and help! LOL
Now get off the puter and get busy, we need to see more.

My sister does nice work, huh?!!
Here's a picture of a pillow she made for my 60th birthday. Such talent!
What a Sis!

Well, I was going to swap this picture for the first one, but couldn't figure out how. I took you at your word, Kathy, and have been avoiding the computer in favor of stitching. Must finish the "front yard" fast and make the pieced surroundings even faster! Advice welcome (although Yvonne will tell you I can't be counted on to follow it) and finger-crossing gratefully accepted. :-) Nighty-night at 2 a.m. in Seattle.

eek!

It's looking good Maecella, it's nearly 6 am in Texas so nap time is over, time to get up and get busy! I've got my fingers crossed for ya.

That poppy pillow is gorgeous!!!! I will file it away inthe back of my head for a someday flower garden quilt.

Marcella 07-07-2007 08:18 AM

Thanks, Kathy, and Moonpi and Yvonne.

What I could really use, if anybody can help, is advice on Chinese good luck symbols. I've googled a few times and found out red is good luck at a Chinese wedding. Yvonne & I think rabbits might be a good luck symbol too, but I've not been able to confirm that. I know this is the year of the pig, so I thought I might put a little piggy somewhere on the quilt (although I know it seems odd on a wedding quilt!)

The colors started out to match the paint job on my buddy's house, but like I said, this block is Evolving.

kathy 07-07-2007 09:05 AM

i only know the symbol for good and evil!

perhaps ... surround it with these? or these with yellow borders around the blocks?

ShellyQ 07-07-2007 12:06 PM

What can I say, it's evolving beautifuly :) I simply adore applique. All the best with getting it finished, I'm sure you will, us quilters seem to do so much better when we have a deadline to work to. I know I do

In the meantime it was nice to meet you and thank you for showing us your lovely work. Please keep posting your progress I'd love to see it.

Yvonne 07-07-2007 01:47 PM

Shelly,
You've got Marcella's number. She needs the stress of 'no more time' to finish. She'll get it done and it will be lovely but the pressure has to be 'just right!' Meanwhile she keeps having more and more ideas to incorporate into the project. Ever notice how projects keep growing until we run out of time?

ShellyQ 07-07-2007 04:30 PM

LOL  A woman after my own heart, even if it does mean working till 3am on the morning of the due date

Norah 07-08-2007 05:03 AM

I was alooking fer the berries, then the other picture popped up. And I love the lady bug, heck, I love the whole pillow. I wish you were MY sister. I can only aspire to be that good at applique. Great work and even greater designs.

Marcella 07-11-2007 07:57 AM

Hey, y'all thank you for the encouragement! And that flower might indeed find its way onto this quilt, Patrice! I love it!

Now Shelly and Yvonne, I was just feeling nice and philosophical about taking it slow and easy and you have blown my self illusions. On the other hand, Norah has given me the big head. I never considered my projects to be "designs" before. :-) I really just accumulate ideas from all over the place and mash 'em together in a way that looks "right" to me. Next thing I'll be calling it "Art" and say I am creating "Pieces." hahaha! But just for a moment there I thought, "Norah likes my design!" :D la-la!

Well, this board has done its job for me this morning. I am inspired to go hit the ol' sewing room, in spite of our heat-wave. (Isn't it great seeing the pictures of folks' sewing rooms? I'll post mine too... after August!) TTFN

Hey, Marcella! That's lovely! Do I recognize the fabric in the "pine" tree from a block of your's in March. A shamrock?

Well Marcella,

Here it is practically the middle of September and we haven't seen the finished piece! Please don't keep us waiting any longer!

DEAR Celeste, thank you so much for asking!! :-)) I couldn't find this page when it came time to post the completed pictures, so I just put them under a new topic. Since then my sis pointed out the "Search" button at the top of the page. ha! Anyway, there are a couple of pictures at that link. I like how it turned out, although I thought I'd never finish it.
Love from Marcella
