Really nicely done! What a relief to accomplish that!

Hamish (great name) is taking his job *very* seriously! Wonderful quilt - I'd not have the patience for all those squares, bravo! I hope you are not 'blessed' with more freebies like this! :D

Your comment about the "blankety blank" little squares made me laugh. I adore them and am part of the 2.5 " Birthday Swap group here on the Quilting Board. I use several thousand of those little gems every year. But, I also understand that if they do not capture your heart they can be a pain in the keister. That is how I feel about quilts made of cuts smaller than 2.5. For instance, I love the look of the OMG quilt but see no purpose in sewing those little bitty snips and scraps into small units. We all choose our challenges and we all have a style preference. Good luck with leaving the shoe box on someone else's door step!. When your group can gather again, find the person who loves these little gems and let them make those 9 patches and more. They will love it! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png I would!

PS. My avatar is made of 2.5" squares! Tee-Hee-Hee

Get your running shoes on! I'd leave that box on her doorstep, too. That's a lot of work for a donation quilt but it certainly turned out to be a beauty. I hope the recipient appreciates the time and talent that's been put into that. I love the picture of Hamish--quite a friend you have there!
Want to comment, too, about the quilt on the wall-- that's a winner. I enjoyed seeing it and would like to know the name of the pattern or a closer photo.

Illinois, that is the start of a Boxes of Strings top. You can find the directions in the QB Tutorials section. I did upsize it from the original 4x8 to 6x12 inch blocks. Here's a link.

Great job and I like the plain squares to break up the scrappy.

This is a great quilt to be gifted this way. Kitty must love it too and be sad that he has to give it up. Thanks for sharing.
