Great job - the kids did wonderfully with the layout. Good way to keep them busy, and teach them a skill that they can use their whole lives.

I just can't any of the girls in my family interessted in sewing, and I've sewed since I was about 9 years old. My passion!! But I do have a sweet niece that is really getting into the quilting, so I am enjoying her excitement as she tries a new pattern.

Wonderful time spent with your grandchildren. They will never forget the times with you. Making memories.

MegsAnn 04-09-2010 08:09 PM

Nice! How old are the kids? I took my first quilting class when I was 12, but remember helping with layout for my mom's quilts before that. Oh and your granddaughter's name rocks. (Haha, no bias here. My name is Megan.)

How old are your grandchildren? I am keeping that in mind for when my granddaughters are a little older! They just turned 4 - too young??

kacy 49 04-11-2010 04:04 PM

She did great. Love her little quilt. Quilting looks great also.

Ramona Byrd 04-11-2010 06:21 PM

What a marvelous way to spend the time together.
This is something that they will always remember.
My granddaughter chose to make a velvet crazy
quilt pillow when she was about 11. She still has
it, and is an RN and a new mother now.
Making memories, that is what you are doing.
Enjoy them while you can, they grow up so fast!

Gayle 04-11-2010 06:25 PM

It's wonderful that you are teaching them your craft. I hope my granddaughter will want to learn to sew.

Maegan will be ten this year and John just turned five. My other granddaughter has also been sewing with me now for over a year and she is only 6. She has made a purse, decorated t-shirts, and a jumper. This summer we will make a quilt together. I just haven't decided if I am going to make the Girl Scout quilt with her, or make that one for her and make another Downey quilt with her.

My own kids don't sew. They were never interested as kids, but their interest is growing. I may convert them yet.
