Made this hexagon baby quilt, hand pieced and machine quilted, am pleased with how it came out. Now addicted to hexies!

That turned out really cute! Welcome to the Hexie addict club. :)

I also do hexies but not continuous, like on again off again. Your quilt is wonderful.

Very pretty! I have never tried hexes, but lately there seems to be more people posting hexes pictures. Maybe I'll have to give it a try.

How did you do the back? What size are your hexies? This quilt is adorable and I think you have pushed me over the Hexie edge. I want to make one and start it right this minute!

Thanks for all compliments! For the back, I wanted the edges to keep hexie shape instead of cutting straight edge, so I researched different ways to do this. Found one where you actually make the outline of the outside hexies, then sew them right sides together, then flip them over onto your backing. The size of these hexies are actually 1 and 1/4 because I used a 1 inch template, but with seam allowance. Was drawing them by hand onto poster for templates, now I bought the punch, much easier and quicker! You have been warned, they are addictive!

The quilt is lovely but I'm really taken in with the backing. ;)

Just so I understand this - the quilt was quilted with the yellow backing, and then the pieced white hexie border was put on like binding? Or maybe facing is a better description? I really like the look - so cleanly finished (and no crazy binding to deal with on those edges).

I'm definitely going to remember it for my next EPP project. It should work regardless of the patch shape. I think. Thanks!

http://badskirt.blogspot.com/2010/05...ie-quilts.html This is where I got instructions, hope it helps you. Was not hard to do, just time consuming, but worth it!

Very Nice.

I'm getting ready to start my hexies after I finish the binding on my Christmas quilt (hopefully today). Yours is really pretty!! Thank you for sharing how you completed it. :)
