Another log cabin variation
 

I seem to be on a bit of a log cabin kick. I am taking part in my LQS's log cabin challenge and my entry is finished. But lately, everywhere I look, I see another interesting take on log cabin blocks. This one starts with a HST. Then 1.5 inch strips in lights and brights are added to two sides, forming 1/4 log cabin blocks. I really enjoyed making this 60x80 inch throw. It is a popular size for donation quilts at our day guild. I am a very new longarmer, but I think I'm getting better with every endeavour. Thanks for looking.

I think your quilting is top notch. Wish I could move my quilts around to do that. Do you move the machine or the quilt? My machine has an eighteen inch throat space or whatever it’s called but it’s in a table and I have to move the quilt. Your setting is not one I’ve seen before but looks good. 60x80 is what our group strives for , for our Quilts of Valor. They’re a nice size.

Is your LQS going to have a "show" of all the log cabins?

Like you, lately I have been noticing new/different log cabin patterns that I've never seen before. And this is yet another new one, to me!

Really like your latest log cabin quilt, it's a setting I've never seen before. Had to give my quilting frame up due to back problems, wish I still had it because quilting like yours can be so much fun to do.

Toogie, I finally quit saying 'if only I was 10 years younger...' and bought a very gently used 2019 Handi Quilter Amara with a 20 inch throat and a 12 foot table, in January. I waited 2 months for the quilt from the rear handles package. I love this machine! It is easy to use and maintain. I am lucky that I had the room for a longarm. I had only quilted small projects on my DSM and my body hated every minute of it. I knew that if I was going to take the next step, it had to be a big one!
