I found this pattern on Moda Bake Shop. It's made from Legacy for a Cause charm squares. I recently visited the store where the sample is displayed, and I have to admit that I like my quilting scheme better than theirs! I tea-dyed it to make it look old-timey.

That is cute! And I haven't seen their quilting but yours would be hard to beat. :D
|
Very nicely done. I like all the colors with the tea dyed white. :D
|
I love it.
|
Very pretty

Wonderful. It does have an old-fashioned look to it. Your quilting is beautiful.
How did you go about tea-dyeing it? ranger |
Yes, I just put about 4 tea bags in a big bowl of hot water, let it steep until it was dark, then put the quilt in it for about 30 minutes. I did put it in the dryer for a while (I wanted to set the tea dye and let it get crinkly to show off the quilting), then I took it out and kind of blocked it and let it finish drying on its own. I love the way the tea dye makes stuff look!

Another question...how big is your quilt? I'd like to try the tea-dyeing on a wall-hanging. Thanks for the info.

This quilt is only about 20" square, a perfect size for a small wall hanging. Here's the link for the instructions:

That is just so adorable!!
|
Very, very nice! Love it!!
|
Oh, I really like that!! And I agree with k3n, your quilting is superb!!
|
I like yours better than the Moda Bake Shop one!!! Your quilting is beautiful!
Have you ever tried coffee dying instead of tea? Tea has a yellow undertone and coffee is browner. Several friends and I got together one day and dyed fat quarters of pfd (prepared for dying) fabric with different kinds of teas and coffees. It was fun to see the different shades each liquid changed the fabric to. We wrote on the selvage what we had dyed it with for future reference. |
I love your quilt and this is on my to do list. It is wonderful and I have to make it SOON.

What a gorgeous quilt!! I love the chain quilting that you've done. I also like the idea of tea-dying it so it has a vintage feel. Great job!
