Another QOV done

Hello Quilters! I am often the recipient of unwanted fabrics or panels for our quilts of valor. I don’t even remember who passed this big un-square yardage on to me. I see where they had cut one emblem block out so I had 19 to work with. They were probably like me and couldn’t square it up without the frame around looking wonky. So, I cut the whole frame off. Not a spectacular quilt but it came out better than I hoped for while dealing with this mess of pillow panels, I guess you could call them. The frames weren’t even even. I think 16 1/2 inch one way and 15 the other. Anyway, I centered and squared to 12 1/2 inch and made the large half square triangles that too. Quilted Twins has a free pattern with sashing that gave me this idea but I did make this quilt top. It measures 60x84. Thank you for looking and the nice comments on my recent Bargello quilt top I made in ‘I’ve always been wanting to try this’ post.

excellent use of the panels!

What a wonderful and bold quilt, I love it!

I thought QOV are supposed to be red, white and blue. Is this something new? Are these presented to the Veterans in a ceremony like the red, whit and blue ones?

Toogie, when do you sleep? You seem to be creating quilts almost daily!! :) This one is a good example of how to solve a problem that to someone else seemed "just too much to tackle". The old adage of making lemonade from lemons applies here. Lovely to see and beautiful precise work. |
toogie...you do such wonderful work. They way you worked this panel out is outstanding. Love it!
|
I think you worked a miracle with those wonky panels! The recipient will adore it!
|
You saved the panel and made a beautiful quilt from it. Someone who served in the army will be thrilled when they receive it. Great job. I love it!

That turned out beautiful & a deserving veteran is going to be honored to receive it. You did an outstanding job!

First let me say that your quilt turned out beautifully! It's bold and distinguished like many of the veterans. I am definitely going to try to keep your idea for this design in my head because as someone mentioned "you made lemonade from lemons"! I might even have some fabric where the blocks do not appear square and might be able to fix that with your technique. Thanks for posting and describing what you did.

It sure is a fantastic quilt! I'm glad you took the time to make the fabric useable for this quilt. What are you putting on the back?
|
Love the quilt. Someone will be very lucky to receive it. My husband is Army strong and liked it very much.
|
Well done!!
