I love this pattern, I think I'm going to make a patriotic one too.

Stars used to intimidate me until I made a Sawtooth Star quilt, king-sized for my girlfriends' 55th birthday. I loved making the little stars as much or more than the larger 8" stars. The star within a star block was just the coolest. Had never made a star before and it was so much easier than it looked. It was a matter of breaking down the block into sections and looking at it from that view. I even made little stars and edged her pillowcases with them. I love your pattern.

I love it! I want to try some stars also. I need to get over my fear of triangles

The pattern I used for making stars did not involve using triangles. You take a long rectangle, put squares at each end, stitch at a 45º angle and you have your star tips. Just like making the modern day flying geese block. Just squares and rectangles.

Love it. It is funny I just saw this made up last night at quilt mini group. One of the gals did it in browns and golds. Patriotic would be great, I love the red, white and blue.
