Some have asked me to post more of my projects since I started this quilting adventure last year so here is another one to share with you. This was for husband in celebration of 30th anniversary in March this year. I had to make it on the sly. It's an old pattern and the fabric collection (I found the panel from a shop in Tennessee) was no longer available so I had to wing it with fabrics...I stayed with civil war fabrics and bought from several different outlets until I had everything. I never sewed rows on a diagonal before so that was a new technique for me....also, I discovered, I'm sick of Ohio Star block...lol.. Anywhoo...I had it custom quilted....hubby totally loved it. BTW?..I have an extra General's panel if anyone is interested. Not sure how you go about "giving" something to someone on the board but I'll look up the rules. The pattern is free from Wyndham Fabrics site.

Edit: I will post something on the "Offers" thread for the panel. Need to measure it so you'll have details. Stay tuned.

that turned out lovely. Wonderful idea. he should love it! nice of you to offer the other panel too. have a great Christmas!

My apologies....I read "Restrictions to offer" rules and I have to be a member for 90 days and be a Senior Member. I'll hold onto the panel and offer when I'm eligible.

I could see that quilt on a bed in one of those historical re-enactment villages. You had a great idea and executed it well!

I'd say you have a great eye for bringing things all together. Your wonderful traditional Star pattern is perfect with the panel and the civil war prints. For someone who is really new to quilting....I'd say you found your calling. Great job!

leighway 12-13-2017 02:31 PM

I can't take credit for the color selection. I had pictures of the fabric used in pattern and tried to match it that way since the collection was discontinued. Took me a few weeks to find all the colors I needed and had to tweek a couple of colors. The Ohio Star was used because that's where Grant is from. I'm on the lookout for General Lee panel... Thought it only fair he is represented too. Lol! thank you for your encouraging words.... Yours and all who posted. Much appreciated.
