thanks for looking. my sister mentioned the other day she sure would like to have an apron. this one took about 2 hrs.
now that i have the learning curve down pat, i hope a lot of my friends need aprons. lol
i may tackle a bib apron next, like great grandma used to wear. i know henryparrish has some on this site so i may copy him. (thanks henry).

Nice Apron, I love the colors, and the pattern seems to go with the fabrics, if that makes sense!!

Very nice job on the apron. I have plans to make two aprons for gifts (today's the 12th, right?) I bought
a yard of fabric for each apron. Is that enough fabric if I use something else for the waistband and ties?

allie 12-13-2009 03:30 PM

really cute apron

nanabirdmo 12-13-2009 06:23 PM

hi pal, i just happen to have written down the yardage. i copied from an old apron i had.
the skirt is 20" from waist to hem.
width of fabric was 20" gathered to the size of the waist band.
waist band 4 1/2"x whatever you want the waist band to be.
apron strings, 3 1/2 x 24" you can also just make the waist band and strings one length and only fold in half for the waist band. i think i will do the next one this way.
these dimensions are totally tweekable. the original has a little christmas terry dish cloth sewn into the waist band on one edge so that you have something to wipe your hands on. i chose to put in a pocket instead.
this is a fun apron and very quick. i actually cut all the fabric for both aprons at the same time which really was a time saver.
have fun and don't forget to post pics.

Hi Nanabirdmo, thank you so much for all that information!!

I'm going to do exactly what you did. Been putting it off

because I didn't want to goof it up, but I think the time

has come. No more excuses, thanks to you!
