So I went in to buy a spool of silk thread to use on the binding of the silk quilt; only had one brown to choose from, but it was on sale. In fact here is a pic of what I got, everything at least 50% off. I spent $73.

Then when I came home my Hancocks of Paducah package was here. Three things were backordered. I was supposed to get 2 Moda scrapbags, only 1 in the package. Called them, they are sending another out today.

Ott light 50% off

Fun stuff! Love the blue jelly rolls there.

Wow-Jackpot-Don't you just love a good sale??? I get such a "high" from getting really good deals. I have my Joann's brochure I got in the mail sitting right by my sewing machine-I keep another in my purse "in case" I happen to be passing nearby a Joann's! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, if you ask my DH) we live about 40 minutes away from the nearest one! I just can't - CAN'T - spend anymore right now!!

Nice haul. Wish I was there! Have got to stop buying (for awhile...!)

Yah, I am not sure what I will do with them yet. The other jelly rolls are Animal Party by Robert Kauffman. Thought they would be cute for a QFK. The black & whites go into my collection for a black/white & maybe red quilt one of these days.

I really like your tan/cream stuff. I can just 'see' a quilt
made out of them.

plainjane 01-14-2011 11:21 AM

I love it all!

Yeah, the panels is a Moda fabric called Migration. I will look around for some of the coordinating pieces to make a quilt for my daughter & son-in-law's farm in the Poconos. He and my grandsons are big hunters with duckblinds and ponds for duck hunting, etc. I really shouldn't have gotten any of it, but I can't resist a bargain :!:  :?

You'll love the OTT light. I can't sew without mine.

Wow, quite a haul! I really like those blue jelly rolls. Have been putting off going to Joann's for 1 color of blue fabric because it is so hard to get out of there without purchasing so much. I have been really BADDDDD lately so trying to be good.

Okay, you win today. I'm jealous of those thread packages. I just love buying thread, almost as much as buying fabric! :-)

bels 01-15-2011 10:48 PM

The jellyrolls are really nice but what is a QFK?

Quilts for Kids, an organization that gifts the quilts to cancer patients and seriously ill kids. Check out quiltsforkids.org. You can request a kit, everything is included except the batting. I have made 5 so far and am planning on making more as soon as I have finished another WIP.

Yeah, those boxes were 50% off, but I should have gotten 2 more. The only problem is I am running out of space to put them. Guess I had better get busy embroidering so I can use some of it up    :P

Oh! of course. I have read about these and I decided they wouldn't like my quilts because they asked that it be well quilted and I don't really do anything but straight stitch quilting or stitch-in-the-ditch. Can't recall but it had something to do with some cleaning product.

They take stitch-in-ditch and straight line quilting. They are sponsored by Downy. I usually just do a diagonal line quilting or something plain and fast. They have accepted all mine with no problem.

Well, that's great to hear. Maybe I'll give it a try after all. Thanks!
