Any ideas as to what pattern this is?

My DD has finally given up the hope that I'll ever make her a "Mariner's Compass" quilt (y'all know me... I'm more of a "9-patch" kinda gal) & so has been sending me *suggestions*. Maybe I should just get off my rear end & make her a quilt so she'd stop with the *hints* -- LOL! I guess it serves me right for promising her a housewarming quilt (& her BF just informed me that he plans to propose any day now so it looks like there's an engagement & finally a wedding quilt in my future, too -- Calgon, take me away!!!). Anyway, I digress (per usual). She sent me the attached picture as one she found online someplace & "likes". And I agree that it would be good for her condo (done in the grays & blues she's decorated in). But I don't recognize the pattern. Do any of you? Help? Thanks in advance!

Looks like a 9 patch variation with sashing to me. Here's a link to an uneven 9 patch http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/projec...-topper_1.html Here's a block link, you would just add sashing & corner stones http://www.fvqg.org/03archiv/0402.htm

Disappearing 9 patch with sashing in the middle of the blocks ?

Sew N Tune 04-25-2012 10:45 AM

Pattern should be easy enough to figure out. Just figure out how big you want the square to be, then design the 9 patch and the rail part to fit. Figure out how many squares you need depending on the finished size you need. Easy peazy...

Teddybear Lady 04-25-2012 10:47 AM

Whatever pattern it is...I like it and the colors.

It is an uneven 9 patch. AKA unequal 9 patch. very simple to make. This one is a variation done with sashing and cornerstones.

I love the colors, too. I think it's that Blueberry Batik collection. Yum!

Latrinka 04-25-2012 11:43 AM

I don't know but I like it!

Sewfine 04-25-2012 12:01 PM

It sure is pretty.

mighty 04-25-2012 12:51 PM

Not sure , but it is very pretty!

Quiltngolfer 04-25-2012 01:06 PM

The fabric is Blueberry Crumb Cake by Moda.

Jingle 04-25-2012 01:17 PM

I have no idea, it would be pretty.

PaperPrincess 04-25-2012 01:54 PM

Oh, thank you for telling me that! If I don't have enough sense to figure the pattern out, at least I can use the fabric! LOL! Thanks!!!!!!!

I don't see it as a 9-patch. I see it as a square with sashing all around with cornerstones. Make a bunch of those (with the sashing all the way around each one). Then put them all together with sashing and more cornerstones. It looks more complicated than it is, so that makes it a great pattern.

spartan quilter 04-25-2012 06:51 PM

And very fast to put together, because I think you could do it in strip piecing. Very pretty, be sure to post pictures when you get it done.

I think we just did this at guild. YOu do make a 9 patch then you slice half from each side, and place it on the top and bottom....must find that hand out they gave us!

That does sound like it. Who knew such a simple-looking quilt could be so tough to figure out? LOL!

I have seen it listed as Puss In The Corner

thimblebug6000 05-19-2012 08:15 PM

Is this the quilt? http://www.clotilde.com/detail.html?code=420652

Pickles 05-19-2012 08:57 PM

Here is a view that looks like it except your pic has the extra sashing and corner stone.

But thimblebug6000 did find the pattern if you wanted to order it.

I admire those of you that can do this , I have ruined so much fabric because someone said it was easy to figure out lol. I have made some pretty complicated quilts and was pleased how they turned out but this gal needs a pattern even for a "simple" project. Heck I look up how to make a nine patch sometimes :/

QuiltingCrazie 05-21-2012 09:19 PM

Don't know the pattern but I know the fabric is Moda Blueberry Crumb! Looks like an easy pattern to figure though. I just donated a pattern to the guild for an auction like that.

Heather Hayllar 05-22-2012 01:36 AM

Looks like "Puss-in-the-Corner" to me.
Nice easy pattern.
