I have been collecting some old sewing/ quilting photos from sites on line and wanted to share them with you.

Thanks for posting these, Janice. I love old pictures. I can't imagine how they could do such lovely work with poor lighting and so much other stuff to do.

I love these pictures. My grandmothers quilted this way - the frame took up so much room - but it was their social time. Great memories.

I love your pictures. I also have a picture of some ladies at a quilting bee. My great grandmother that I was named after is in the photo, (unfortunately she was not quilting at the time of the photo, but standing on the right in the back) I really love this photo. Really gives me that connection with my great grandmother.

sorry for the flash, its the best i could get without removing it from the frame

Love the pictures. Boy, it would be great if you could scan them on fabric and make something!

Thanks for sharing your cherished pictures. I have decided to add vintage sewing notions to my sewing rm decor. Its alot of fun looking for these items. I recently have really gotton into the history behind quilting, its really interesting reading.Yes makes us wonder why we need all the latest gadgets when these ladies had so little.

THey never smiled because they had bad teeth. That was a question I asked my grandmother when we looked over all her old photos.

Those pics are very interesting, it makes you think how spoiled we are!

I think it is fun looking at how they sewed and quilted way back when. They didn't have the fancy rulers that we have today and they must have cut out the pieces for thier block with just a pair of scissors that weren't very sharp as there wasn't much in those days either. No embroidery machines and it was all done by hand. Great pictures, Huggies, Fay
