Apple Core Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I've been working on the top for a while... it is completely curved seams. Mr. Seam Ripper has been my constant companion. Hint: don't walk away to do another project without carefully checking the layout of the 4 colors. I had to completely unstitch 3 rows :(.
I found that this method of pinning works best for me... always with the 'smile' side up. The right corner is pinned vertically within the 1/4" seam allowance. The left corner is pinned horizontally within the 1/4" seam allowance keeping the pieces aligned for the first couple of stitches. |

Hang in there; It going to be beautiful. Love the colors.

Oh my, very soft looking. I will have to keep your tip in mind for when I start my apple core. Been collecting homespuns, but I need more and I'm finding it harder to find the homespuns. You have the start to a great looking quilt!!

That is very well done. I know my seam ripper intimately too. I understand.
Thanks for the sewing tip. There is an apple core quilt in my future.
that's a lot of work. I made a baby one about 2-3 yrs ago. what a headache. My friend is making one now. she has quite the art of doing curved seams. Your work looks great.
I`m currently working on one also...doing by hand so It will take a while...
I think your quilt top is adorable! At first glance it looked like a line of chorus girls where you only see themfrom the neck down. Adorable!!

Very pretty.
I've always loved the scrappy apple core pattern...just don't have the guts to do all the curve piecing. Kudo's to you!!
Whew! You are a brave soul! Looks so nice I can almost smell the crock pot apple butter! Lovely.
I think this is one of the most challenging single blocks you can make. Good job. Tried this one years ago and ended it at a place mat size experiment. This a great one for hand piecing though.
Sewing the pieces together into rows was okay. My difficulty was sewing the rows together. Way to much effort for me. Love your apple core. peace |
Great start!
Looks nice and cool; just what we will need before long!

Love your apple cores. I have always liked that pattern. I am like Wonnie, been a little afraid to try it. I am going to add it to my never ending list.

Maybe I need to movie the apple core farther down the bucket list.
