Appliqué Name Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
A friend of my daughter has an 8 year old girl who just had serious surgery. Of course she needed a quilt! The result is fine, but I was so stupid with the appliqué! I had the letters fused down, then I sandwiched and partially quilted it before doing the buttonhole stitch around the letter! What was I thinking! Oh, right, I wasn’t!!! Luckily the little girl didn’t hear the cussing. I made this with lots of Accuquilt products - 1”, 3”, 6” finished strip dies, carefree lowercase alphabet die, and a 2 1/4” cut size strip die for the binding. Quilted with King Tut variegated blues, greens, and teals on top, SuperBob pink in the bobbin, bound with pink serpentine stitch in Aurifil. The back is a brighter pink splatter print. Hope she likes it.

OH I would think she would love it. no worries. it turned out lovely!

I think because of the situation it was hard for you to think, but if you want to know what I think, it looks wonderful. I am sure Gracelyn will be proud of it and so will her mom. So heartbreaking when our little ones have to go through something like this.I do hope she recovers well. -Toogie

Thanks for the nice comments. Simple quilt, but I needed it in two days. Cut it one evening, sewed it the next day, quilted, bound, and in the washer the next.

Cute, it will be loved!

This is a very thoughtful work of art for Gracelyn. I am sure her and her parents are going to just love it! It will keep her warm for a long time to come. What I kind gesture on your behalf.

That is such a cute quilt. The lettering is lovely. 👍

Very cute quilt! And really although you didn't know it at the time...there is an actual process called appliquilt where you do just that.... fuse it, sandwich it, and then the stitching down of the fused shapes becomes the machine quilting. I have done it on small pieces, and it works well.
