Just finished this for a friend at work. She keeps a few chickens and gives me eggs occasionally.

Yes it is a flange. I thought it needed it. It's a 1/4" when stitched. Thanks everyone for your comments. Fat Cat patterns are fab, quite intricate though. I enjoyed doing them.
