Applique To Go Bag #2
4 Attachment(s)
I prepped another to go bag using a different pattern by the same designer, Aneela Hoey and oh my word, I cannot believe how much I love this bag! It was my first snap and was definitely more complex than bag one but I think it's totally my new favorite. I purchased the fabric line in 1/2 yards so I still have plenty left to make some bits to go with it. Zippers are my new jam, two in this project and I didn't even stress about them.
I will say next time I'll use masking tape or something to get the pulls out of the way when I do the binding. I broke another needle on the old Janome but it was the pull, and that was my fault. I picked up a set of 10 new universal needles for it as I had to dig into the piecing needles the last few. In any case, it was a great learning experience and I'm thinking about making another for my fancy school pens, too! |
A really nice bag...pretty too!

What a great looking bag. If you don't have a snap, you could use velcro for the closure. I like the clear plastic so you can easily see what's inside & love the double zipper sections so all is not just jammed up in one big space. Thanks for showing us your new to go bag.

Well done!

Thanks, granky, osewme, & Tartan! I can't wait to add a few more of her designs to the mix. There are little goodie bags all the way to what I'm calling an art portfolio, I just can't choose which fabrics to make it out of yet. I think the next one (since I have nearly decided on the fabrics) is a folder with lots of pockets on both sides. These patterns are awesome!! I make a freezer paper version of each so I don't lose anything and that's been helpful.

I like the bag style with the zippers at each end and the clear plastic makes it easy to see where things are inside at a glance.
Enjoy using your bag and show us more if you make some. |
Love your bag. The fabric is so charming and the clear plastic is a bonus!.

Great bag, I love the two zippers. I just googled her patterns. I'm going to get one of them, just haven't decided which one. It will be a great challenge for me. It will be something different to do, keep me busy and maybe learn a few new skills.

Love those!

How cute and practical for those pesky little items. The clear pockets make everything easy to locate too. You did a great job.

Looks very functional. Thank you for showing us them.

Hi,
I love your bag!!! I went to Aneela Hoey’s site but I couldn’t find that pattern, did you improvise??? |
Retrogirl02 - I love your bag and I think I will love Anita Hoey bags. I also looked on her website without finding the pattern you used. Would you mind sharing the name of the pattern? Thank you for sharing your bag pictures!

Cute bags. Thanks for sharing all the fun you are having with the projects and fabrics.
|
Very nice bags and I especially like the clear plastic you have used. It is so easy to see what you have in that particular bag. Well done
|
It is a wonderful holder. I am sure you will enjoy having everything in an organizer.

Very nice bag.

Thank you copycat, WMUTeach & Sharon luvstoquilt. It's so nice, to have it, really. My youngest has a birthday coming up and I think I may make her a couple for her pens/pencils and other small art tools.
rjwilder, thank you. Yes, she has some wonderful stuff, doesn't she? I liked a few of the patterns I found so I purchased the book with patterns and it was much less expensive if you're fond of a few. It has been wonderful to learn new skills. I did my first zipper and this was my first snap, a magnetic one at that! I never learned basic sewing because I didn't have anything I really needed/wanted to make other than being too frugal to pay for curtains. LOL I only hand sewed before I moved into a condo that didn't have window coverings...so I borrowed a machine and got some hideous free hand me down fabric and figured it out. Isn't that the way it goes? But now, it's a pleasure when you have something pretty and practical for yourself. She includes some wonderful hints in the book, I'm not sure if it's the same for the patterns but that's something you can ask her on her site (comfortstitching). The double pocket pouch is different on the site than the book, just so you're aware. Several others are identical. I'm doing the fold overs soon and would like to try the 3 in 1 pouch, too. My daughter might like that 3 in 1 as well. Then the project book and fold over pouch before making another not available on her site. Just FYI, I read the directions aloud and sometimes several times before I'm sure I have it but am not accustomed to following patterns ever. Even as I go through, I'll say oh, it would be easier if I did this than that. My husband finds it all very amusing. The second one I will try things my way and see if it's more to my strengths/materials. For instance, she often gives directions for using fat quarters, which I get for people who don't buy yardage but instead of cutting separate pieces for binding, I can easily use WOF, just little things like that. She's known for her embroidery and designing fabric so I think to appeal to her fans of various abilities, she's explaining absolutely everything----which I desperately needed. Please let me know if there's anything I can answer for you. I hope you really enjoy the process, I am. :) |
Sheilar & Karon, thanks so much. I just ..Aneela Hoey's work. This particular pattern and a few others are not available on her site (comfortstitching). They are included in a book:
Stitched Sewing Organizers: Pretty Cases, Boxes, Pouches, Pincushions & More that she authored. I found her page first but liked several patterns and figured it would be less expensive and I wouldn't have to mess with printing patterns (and ..!!! don't get me started on that in a house full of teens lol). I ordered it without being able to look through it. I'm SO glad I did...worth every penny and more. I've not looked at the other books she has but may put those on my B-day list soon. The actual name of this pattern is the Two-in-One Case. Please let me know if I can be of assistance if you need more details or whatever. |
EmiliasNana, you're so kind, thank you. Bearisgray, RhondaK, Jordan, RedGarnet222 & Jingle thanks so much. I just love it and am already putting it to use out and about at various appointments. I have an orange peel in the works as I always love some handwork to calm my nerves. I'm not very good about sitting around and waiting, which I seem to be doing a lot of lately. This makes the time pass quickly and is small enough to keep in my purse.

I love it! Job well done looks like you conquered the zippers! The more I see the more I am getting ready to take the plunge in to making a bag or case.
|
Your bag looks awesome! Well done!
