This is the finished quilt that took nine months. Being new to embroidery I jumped into this huge project...was sick at looking at it and doing all the embroidery work. However it was a great learning curve for me even though several times I would give up... the next day I would go back to it. Had to redo seven block from mistakes...there are still some in the quilt but I could not make myself redo another one. Not sure where I am going to get it quilted or how I want it. It is a king and thinking I may use it as a duvet...not sure.
Thanks for letting me share my quilt with you.
Beth

Lovely, that's a lot of work. Is it all hand embroidery?

SewSew2 09-03-2008 05:24 PM

Thanks for your kind words....all the embroidery was done by machine.

twistedstitcher 09-03-2008 06:15 PM

I stand back in amazement and awe....wow!!

Please can you take some close ups of all your wonderful embroidery, I would (and I am sure plenty of others!) would love to see the detail.

Well done

The design is by Jenny Haskins and the name of the quilt is Aquamarine Ambience. She has a new one that is called Summer Wine but after this I am not ready to do another one of hers at this time.
The Bernina shop I go to started and embroidery club and this was the second quilt we made. I think about five of us made this one....each choosing our own material and colors. One lady made hers out of silk....which is beautiful.
I will try and get some of the blocks up close. I think I may have some that I took before I put them together.
Thanks for each comment.

That is Stunning....fantastic job!

Izy 09-03-2008 10:10 PM

Thank you so much for posting the close ups....as I expected they are exquisite...I can understand why you don't want to do another one in a hurry though - it must have taken ages. :D

Was each embroidery done separately then the block put together or did you just reposition on a 12" piece of fabric?

Chele 09-04-2008 12:54 AM

Exquisite!

Quilt4u 09-04-2008 01:53 AM

WOW is that nice you did a lovely job.

kathy 09-04-2008 03:17 AM

ok, what size hoop did you use? is that a design that you have to do in sections or is it smaller than it looks ? I haven't tried any of the large designs that have to be divided and done in sections, since I don't have much time to spend with it I just stick to the basics and do small single hoop ones, usually 4X4 or smaller.
oh, by the way, the quilt is beautiful, excuse my manners!

beachlady 09-04-2008 04:05 AM

Absolutle gorgeous!! The time it took you - congrats on finishing it!!!!!

SewSew2 09-04-2008 06:26 AM

Izy,

All the blocks were cut 20 inches and once finished cut to 18 inches then placed sashing and inserts. Not sure you could see well but it was placed on point. I used template and reposition each design on the 20 inch block.
On many designs one design would take 72 minutes to stitch then you had to do three more. All this was done seperate so you have many hoopings to complete the block. The reason I did not use the mega hoop because I did not want to sit at the machine for several hours for it to stitch out. With the mega hoop you could have stitched a section of three designs at a time.

Beth you deserve a medal for your patience alone!!

This has to be the most work intensive quilt I have seen, but what a result of your labour, give yourself a great big pat on the back girl!!
