Artistic interpretation of New York City

A panel was donated to the charity I sew for, and I added borders to get it to a size for a teenager. (We aim for 40" x 56" for the teens.) Now that I look at it all done, I should have used maybe red instead of the blue. :o It looks too much like sky!

P.S. Why can't I aim that camera so the picture is straight!? :D

This is a perfect teen quilt. I love it just the way it is - looks like a dream city with the blue on the sides ...

zozee 06-11-2017 10:55 AM

I like it just as it is. The dark blue is far enough from the sky blue that it's clearly not sky.

That's a WOW!

gramajo 06-11-2017 11:50 AM

Great quilt. I agree--the blue is far enough away that it doesn't look like sky. I think red would be distracting and you'd maybe lose the buildings next to it.

Wow! Brilliant quilt. Very nice colourway

That turned out to be very pretty. I like it. I have issues with figuring out how to enhance a panel and make it turn out good. Every time someone uses a panel, I take notice and learn from it. Good job!

Very nice! I love what you did with the side borders.

QuiltnNan 06-11-2017 01:34 PM

I think it turned out great.

Homespun 06-12-2017 05:01 AM

it is very pretty!

ArtsyOne 06-12-2017 06:30 AM

I think you picked the right color - red would have been jarring, I think.

BrendaK 06-12-2017 07:01 AM

LOVE it. It looks like a floating city. BrendaK

That is one COOL quilt! Some teen is going to love it.

sJens 06-12-2017 10:35 AM

Love everything about your quilt.

Tweety2911 06-12-2017 02:13 PM

You can always bind it in red. Great job!

Sync 06-12-2017 03:01 PM

Wonderful quilt. There is a teenager out there just waiting for this one.

Doggramma 06-12-2017 03:56 PM

I love that panel. What you have will make a great quilt. I have the panel in black/white. I was going to cut mine lengthwise and add some black/white blocks in the middle, maybe darker on the bottom and getting lighter near the tops of the buildings. I haven't quite figured it all out yet though.

The blue makes it look ethereal. Red would have drawn attention away from the cityscape. IMHO. Very nice.

QM 06-12-2017 10:45 PM

Nicely done.

Jordan 06-13-2017 06:36 AM

Very nice and I really like it the way it is. I don't think I would change a thing.
