We've had a really hard time getting decent internet access this trip and so this is the first time I'm some place where I could do this. I'm going to let you all decide if you want to add either your screen names or real names to you photos in additional messages!
My apologies to Olebat, I somehow didn't get a picture of you and I may also have missed others. If you published pictures elsewhere I've not found them, please add on if you did! picture 1 picture 3 picture 4 Beth on the right Picture 5 I'm the third from the left, my friend Beth is the 4th from the left picture 6 picture 7 picture 8 picture 10 picture 11 Sarah Phillips, the owner of Intown Quilters is the third from the left |

What a nice gathering. I love the quilt with the shoes. I know a lot of coworkers that would be thrilled have a quilt like this. Thanks for sharing.
|
thanks for sharing your pictures with us from your 1st meet and greet
you did a great job organizing your meet and greet, always so much fun! |
I was fortunate enough to visit Intown Quilters on our 10th anniversary trip. It is a beautiful store. I loved it. This was the first quilt store that I had ever been in that had a little area for husband's (or other non-quilters). My husband really liked that.
It looks like you had a great meetup! Those quilts are stunning! |
I'm hoping the individual quilter will speak up and tell you about them!
|
good time had by all   8-)

Here are some more pics of the day. Some VERY talented people there! And Intown and other LQS were very good to us too. I look forward to another meeting. Maybe in another part of the state (found a really nice QS in Ellerslie yesterday if there are any folks in the Columbus/LaGrange area who want to organize one)?
I don't remember names or enough about the works to put any descriptions but if you will PM me your info I'll edit the pic descriptions however you would like. |
Thanks so much, I *knew* there were lots more photos lurking out there!
|
I'm the one in the tie dye Tshirt in a few pictures. We had a GREAT time meeting, greeting, eating....and the owner of Intown Quiters, Sarah Phillips, came down with some goodies as door prizes and did a presentation on what was new at Market this year!
|
Wonderful pictures! I was so sorry to have missed this get together! I hope I am in town for the next one!
|
Still not due back till end of July and I need to check my schedule and find a place. I'll do another, but if you don't want to wait or the bug bites you all you need to do is find a place, not even a quilt shop, tho that helps! And run an ad on the QB, and poof people will come and a good time will be had by all!
|
Thanks for sharing. Looks like lots of fun.
|
Looks like everyone had a great time!
Thanks for sharing your pictures! |
Would like to be on the list to be notified for the next one in the Atlanta area.
|
please post a message at the end of the thread from the original one and I'll use that to start organizing the next one. I'm almost feeling human from our trip so I can begin to look at a calender and try to coordinate the next one. Also anyone else interested please do the same!

All Georgia QB members, and those who live in surrounding states:
in Sept there is the E cobb quilt show on 9/16, 9/17 and 9/18 http://www.ecqg.com/Show/index.htm In Oct there is the commercial Georgia Quilt show, Oct 20, 21 and 22 http://www.sewingexpo.com/GeorgiaQuiltShow.aspx In Nov we were thinking about a get together on the south side of Atlanta at A Scarlet Thread, a very nice and HUGE quilt shop for those who haven't been there. In order to make these meet ups happen, we're thinking that a poll of those who are interested will give us the best time to schedule a meet-up at the two events and then to schedule the Nov one. We can do the same thing in Nov we did in May, which was a pot luck lunch, some show & tell, some market info from Sarah Philips, the shop owner of Intown Quilters (in Nov we wouldn't be getting this presentation but maybe the shop owner would do something else) , some shopping, a lot of getting to know each other and some help from other QB members on things. If we want a more formal presentation, we might try to get one from a QB member, the topics of interest seemed to be OBW's (and a gorgeous one was there, but I know I'd like some help in choosing the best fabric of the couple I've picked up and then lining up the first one before I cut into all that fabric!), some paper piecing interest was expressed...what all are you interested in seeing? Twister? A sit n sew? It'll be our meeting so let's decide what we want and make it happen!! Any and all ideas are welcome as is help in organizing and coordinating I hope to be able to schedule something so that all who were there AND those who couldn't make it but wanted to will be able to attend! Please keep the messages public as I'm not the only one working on this and it'll be easier for us, thanks! Jo |
I LOVE A Scarlett Thread! That would be a great place to meet. I missed the first get together so I really hope to make this one. Since many of us work (like me!) a Saturday and Sunday would be best for meeting.

Yes, please feel free to set up more meet and greets in your areas so much fun.
I have already set up 4 so far and my 5th one is set for September 7, 2011. You can meet at quilt shops, restaurants etc. in your area. I like to find a restaurant that we can have the private banquet room so it give us time to visit, eat, show and tell and also have demonstrations. Also maybe a quilt shop will have a room also so you can have it there and everyone bring in food. You will be surprised about how far members will drive to a meet and greet. They are so much fun! |
