Great job! Love the colors and design.

That came out magnificent. It's one of the nicest Attic Window quilts I've seen. I have that on my bucket list but have yet to find a panel to suit me. Thanks for inspiring and sharing.
|
This is gorgeous! Did you cut the panel and then add the frames? I would love to do one.
|
That is so cool!

Another attic window.

I've had some emails asking how I did my attic window back in 2008 so thought I'd post the answer here with a picture of another one I finished this year.
So I started with a panel & cut it into 9 equal pieces then added sashings to the left and bottom using the method in the links below. Then I sewed 1/2 inch black sashings around each block. After I took the picture posted on the forum then I also added a 3 inch border around the whole thing - made it look more like a real window. The one below has it too. http://www.crystalpalaceyarns.com/eq...ticwindow.html http://www.quiltaholics.com/bom/attwin.htm |
Very pretty, love the colors.

I finally finished my first attic window. Thanks again for the inspiration Katherine. This is a Michael Miller panel called Serenity Bridge. I think next time I need to add another wider border on the outside edge to look more like a window frame.

Thanks Annmarie for the instructions and the lovely pic of the one you finished. Hope mine comes out as well.

What great work.
So pretty.. |
Beautiful panel, and I agree, a wider border would be better. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice work. I the effect you have. My first AW was made with the sashings to narrow and had no depth at all. Thats the learning curve I have. Now I know to make them a bit wider, like yours and they get the look of the window.
Really nice quilt. peace |
Annmarie, I have another question if you don't mind. When making the attic window what is the size of each square?
If you divide three into the width of the material would that be accurate enough for the squares to come out an even size? I hate to keep bothering you but I am not an experienced quilter(nor typist -obviously)and I can get really stumped |
Totaly AWESOME. I bet you will be the block of the week next week. This pattern is at the top of my barrel list. I am thinking of making a table runner out of the pattern for Christmas. BrendaK
