Your block, fabrics, look great except the solid black. Stick with your prints. Solid fabrics stick out and draws your eye to it instead of letting your eye roam to the other fabrics. :)

Think of your fabric as 3 colors light medium and dark .Do not mix them have one side dark and the other light and on another medium and the other dark or light. It will result in a block that is more pleasing to the eye and will allow you to have some blocks as center some middle and others on the edge 'with the depth of color flowing as you want it.

Terri BB: Looks good .. thanks for sharing and you will be hooked on quilting and stashing fabric for future quilts. Welcome to the club !LOL

It's looking great. Remember to keep the same prints in the same order.

The quilt will look great, looking forward to seeing the finished quilt. Now, more than ever, I'm sure that this year's family reunion quilt will be a black/white log cabin. Thanks for making me sure it's the quilt to make, as the log cabin quilt keeps calling to me. So, I think I'd better listen.

Keep going!

Thank you for asking about a b&w log cabin. I want to make one for my very picky daughter. I picked up a few tips here.

I think it will be beautiful. I love black and white quilts with a touch of red.

I think you need to eliminate the black strip as it will stand out too much in the overall pattern. If you look at the google page with log cabins examples, you'll see at least one where they use a solid color to finish every block. I think one has solid green ending all the blocks on one side. If you use the black like that, it could be very effective but in the middle of the block kind of fouls up the flow of dark to light.

Your blk and white log cabin blocks look terrific - they will make a gorgeous quilt. Hang in there!
I also love your avatar - looks like an applique wall hanging. Did you create it or did you use a pattern? If it's from a pattern, I would love to know it's name. Thanks. |
