Baby quilt saga
2 Attachment(s)
I made my grandson a baby quilt before he was born using a Moda Bakeshop pattern titled, Pinwheels. It became his comfort blanket. When he was 4, he asked me to make it bigger. I cut the binding off and added in batting and inches of fabric to sides and ends. It's been loved to death! He's 12 years old now and requested a new blanket just like his little one. He wanted it to be the same colors, so I took him to Joann's one day and we chose fabric. The result is a 53x73 inch quilt using pinwheels. Needless to say, he was very happy with it and was already breaking it in when we left.

What a beautiful story and quilt.

That is so awesome. Thank you for sharing your story. That is the way I would like all my quilts to be loved to pieces.

How sweet that he loves his quilt so much that he wants it replicated. I had to do somethig similar to this for my son. He is a full fledged adult asked for an updated version. It was one of those warm moments moms and grandmas cherish in their hearts.

A quilter's aspiration: to have every quilt loved to death. Great job Nana!

What an honor to have the request from a 4-year-old little guy and the 12-year-old 'growing up'. Wonder how long it will take until you get another request.
You have the best grandson. |
