Baby Quilt
 

This is a baby quilt for my first grandchild (hooray!) - a boy - who was born 3 weeks early so it was a bit of a rush at the end because my decision making skills (what pattern, what fabric etc) make me a very slow quilter.
It is a buffalo check.

Fabric I used:
Comfort & Joy - Ore the Fields – Cloud
Comfort & Joy - Ore the Fields – Teal
The white has a small horizontal fleck which matches the green and purple on the cloud fabric and I used if for the border too. The backing is Moda Moody Bloom Mochi Linen Rainbow. The binding is a plain cotton the same colour as the dark on the Teal.

The colour of Cloud is brighter than in the photo of the quilt and the green binding is lighter than the photo. I used a border so the binding didn’t sit right next to the teal as I thought it would just sort of blend in, not in a good way.
I quilted it with a straight stitch both sides of the ditch. I am fairly pleased with the end product. However, I think I am heading away from structured quilts.

I love this! I know them as "gingham quilts". They are so pretty.

First of all, Congratulations on your grandson! :) I am also a slow quilter for the reasons you mentioned. Baby quilts are my absolutely favorite quilts to make! Your quilt is awesome and is sure to be loved. I like the color palette you've chosen.

Congratulations Grandma. We are expecting our seventh grandchild in late June, a girl, our daughter's third and a girl after two lively boys. Each one is as precious as the first! You picked a very versatile pattern and gorgeous and timeless fabrics. Parents and baby boy will love it. I have a hard time picking too as there are so many adorable baby quilts, and my favorite to do also.

Thank you all very much for your encouragement. This is my fourth quilt and isn’t perfect but I think I’m getting better at piecing and quilting.

It is 38 x 38 in (950x950).

I’m very excited to be a Grandma at last.
