Well I decided to go easy for a quick quilt for the new grandbaby...the baby's room theme is Ocean Wonders so I went with this for now...I have the puppy material and I am going to wait until his 1st birthday for that one...had a baby shower today and with this little quilt, 2 other blankets, and 3 crochet blankets, I think he is set for now, plus at least 2 more crochet blankets to come at the next shower....I also made a little "rubbie"(?) out of the backing of the quilt. I don't know exactly what they are called, they like to rub the silk tags and play with them.

I love the ribbon blankie idea. One of our daughters had a yellow blanket that had satin ribbon blanket binding, all around the edge. It went everywhere with her and looked like a rag. The binding was in shreds and of course she could not go to sleep without rubbing that binding across her face. I decided to replace the tattered binding with new yellow satin blanket binding.....She, of course, would have nothing to do with it and cried for the old one. She was about two, and she looked all over the house for her old "winkie" In desperation, I took the old binding out of the waste basket and attached it to a left over piece of the old blanket and she was happy once more. I think that every time I make a child's quilt, from now on, I will make a small ribbon blankie to go with it. When this daughter, opened her suitcase, on her wedding night, she found that her sister had placed the old "winkie" in with her clothes. There was a note attached that said "just in case you have trouble sleeping."

Ta rib--that's lovely and I made a little "rub" for my grandson--the one in my avatar out of fleece and cut all the labels off my t shirts and tops as he didn't like the first one I made and he loves it!!!

Such a great idea! There have been a few made by our guild members, they called them "Taggies".

I love the blanket! The little one with the loops however I see as a problem. The loops should be cut as little fingers can get wound up in the loops and that can cause problems.....Sorry, but we have to put safety first.... :D

really precious. You're an awesome auntie or grandma.

Never thought of that, just followed the pattern, plus they sell them in the stores too. We will make sure to keep a close eye on the little one when he uses it. thanks for the thought
