Backing

Well, I am finally getting around to being ready to quilt my D9P. Of course I had to piece the backing and a symmetrical kinda gal I decided to put two seams running the length of the fabric. Well after doing this, while they weren't in your face, I decided to try out the embroidery functions on my 'girl'. This is what the seams look like, I actually like it, what do you think?

The variegated thread used for the embroidery is the same thread that is going to be used for the hand quilting.

Here is a bad picture of the quilt top:

Each yellow block is getting a maple leaf and each orange block is getting a oak leaf. The rectangles will be getting branches and the small squares will be getting acorns. Still not sure what I am going to do in the borders yet, thinking it will either be feathers or something else that looks organic falls in line with nature.

Looks good to me. I never thought of using a decorative stitch to join backing panels! Great idea.

Brilliant and Beautiful! And the quilt is nice too!!!:p

Thank you everyone. The colors are much more vibrant than what is depicted in the picture. The backing is a deep earthy brown and the thread has nice vibrant colors of maroon gold, orange, and green. For some reason I really enjoy using variegated threads for quilting, just seems to make the stitching pop when it can be showcased as such in a top like this.

I am going to try and get it all sandwiched tomorrow and get the center quilted with the leaves. Still have to print off the acorns and branches and then size them for the blocks theynwill be placed in.
