I made these hand applique blocks about 10 years ago as part of a workshop. I really enjoy the finished block but it is so time consuming, I was just wondering what I could do with these other than making cushions etc. Could there be a way they could be incorported into a quilt as I have four completed blocks. I don't want to make dozens of blocks in this method as I would probably never complete it!!!
Any thoughts and suggestions very welcome. Gal |
You could sew them all together into a large block for the center of a quilt. They are very pretty!

Sew the 4 together for a medallion and use it for the center in a quilt. Build up with various borders. They are beautiful blocks. A shame to not use them.

'Would make a stunning table runner. Or...you could just set them along with some lovely pieced blocks and make a small wall quilt. Phenomenal!

They are wonderful. I'd do a wall hanging with just lots of borders so they stay the focus point.

Thanks everyone I knew you would come up with some good ideas, I think using them as a focus to the centre of a quilt is a nice idea, now just to find some suitable blocks to incorporate with them, pieced not applique? Something easy as I am fairly new to quilting. A block with not too many pieces.
These were my Fathers favourite colours and I think they work ok together, he was Scottish and loved the plaids and tartans, so do I! Gal |

Or you could use them for the 4 corners in a pieced quilt.

I'd put them together with a nice border as a 4-block wallhanging.
If you use them in a larger quilt, I'd keep them together in the center for more impact. If you put them at the corners, you lose the impact. JMHO Odessa |
I"d put them in sepaerate frames and hang them as a group arranagement.

I like the idea of a wall hangings. Use the squares as the center and add whatever borders you need to make it the size you want. They are just beautiful.
|
Beautiful Blocks! I would put all 4 together as a center for a quilt and just add borders.
|
Great suggestions by all. Would love to know what you decide to do.

Cushions, wall hangings, table runners - all come to mind.
I like the idea of joining all four and using them as the medallion center of a quilt. Just add borders to extend the size. I would probably put them on point to jazz it up :) Just my 2 cents. |
I love the plaid! Very different!

I just took 2 of my orphan blocks and put borders on them to equal them up in size. I then used them to make a bag to carry supplies to quilting. I get lots of compliments.

They are beautiful! I would showcase them on a tote (2 in front, 2 in back) or the easiest method has been mentioned already - as a centerpiece for a medallion style quilt then keep adding chimneys and cornerstones til you get the size you want. Best of luck with your orphan blocks!! :D :D

Or.........you could just send them to me! ;)
They're so very nice, and I agree with the medallion idea! |
They are beautiful, whatever you do with them, please show us some pics.
