They're from the same pattern. You make one block, cut it on the diagonal. Right side makes the pinwheels and the left make the bamboo.

it doesn't look the same with the small white tip on the second one. I must be dense.

Your block is a 2 1/2" strip sewn to a 6 1/2" rectangle. This makes a square. Then you cut it on the diagonal. One triangle has a small white tip and the other one has white edge along one side. When you sew the white tipped triangles together you get the pinwheel effect.
