Barbara Brackman's Civil War Blog

Have any of you been watching Barbara Brackman's Civil War Blog? http://civilwarquilts.blogspot.com/ Since I am using CW fabrics for the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt along on the QB I thought I would work on these at the same time.

The blocks are 8 inches finished rather than 6 for the FWS. Might think they'd be easier--well if you have a 4 patch, yes; but the 9 P's and 5P's are a little trickier. Think about it 8" divided by 3 is not a nice quilt cut number!

Here are my first 10 or should I say 9 as I missed block number 6.

You are doing a great job with these blocks! I really liked the number 4 block. Have fun creating all of these blocks and looking forward to seeing the whole quilt. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for looking. Chicca, the #4 block BB has called "Texas Tears". I like the last one she call's "Lincoln's Platform", aka Churn Dash or Monkey Wrench.

I love her blog and your blocks. I haven't been doing the FW project but keep looking at each block on her blog. Love your blocks and fabric choices.

You could spend hours on her blog just reading the historical perspectives and her links to said perspectives. I haven't decided if she's an historian first, or a quilter. She knows soo much about fabric dating, etc, too. I like how she ties the history altogether.
Thanks for the nice comment. My fabric choices are random. I bought a couple of CW pieces cuz I liked them, then did a 5" and a 10" swap on board. Then bought some random FQ's on board. Also acquired a bunch of scraps, so the colors are all over the place on this.
